Rated 4 out of 5 by GE Dual Stage Water Filter Mine worked for almost 5 years before a plastic pin valve failed. I just jammed it open with a small 1/4" piece of a small brass screw and now it works again fine. I just have to turn the water valve off now to change filters...and that is no problem because I have it connected to a saddle valve with a screw shut off. I hope to get another few years out of it until the filters disappear off the market. Makes great quality drinking water. June 3, 2012
Rated 1 out of 5 by Do not buy if you expect it to last more than 3 years! The water quality is great and I've been a very satisfied owner of this unit for about three years... until today when I changed the filters. I went from a working unit with old filters to a broken one with new filters. Same issue as mentioned below... the plastic protrusion for the valve wears down so the ramps on the filter can no longer open the valve, rendering the entire unit junk. To add insult to injury, two calls to GE support were met with "We are not aware of any issues" and "I guess you'll just have to buy a new one". Unacceptable. I will not be replacing this with another GE product. August 6, 2013
Rated 1 out of 5 by Not Good in the Long Run Performance declined over time. Owned it for 3 years. Water flow reduced with each change of filters. Faulty pin valve. Several other users have reported a similar problem. GE help line was no use. I got the run around when I submitted a question by e-mail. This under counter water filter was fine at the time I originally purchased it, but it did not last. GE has not kept pace with other manufacturers such as Aquasana. I would not purchase the GE Dual Stage Under Counter Water Filter again and would not recommend it for other consumers. October 4, 2014

Rated 2 out of 5 by Defective Design This GE water filter system has a defective design. Several people have complained that after using the unit for a year or more the system starts making loud noises and has poor water flow. We had this problem. So I when looking for a replacement system. Did not find anything locally that would do more than filter particulates so I purchased another GE. When I removed my old one. it is very easy to swap out the manifold. I noticed one of the pin valves was deformed. Looking at the filter I had just removed, I noticed two small ramps on each side of the filter inlet. Light bulb turns on, If you over-tighten the filter, the pin valve drops off the end of the ramp. When you turn on the water, nothing happens, (pin valve is closed, because it is off the ramp) so you remove and re-install the filters. The water now flows. But what you have done is deformed the pin valve when you loosened the filter and forced the pin valve up and over the end of the ramp, GE's design defect is the flat top area on the filter ramps are too short (needs to be slightly longer). The lesson: DO NOT OVER-TIGHTEN THE FILTERS!!! October 14, 2013
