I was able to utilize our electric utility's rebate program to cover the cost of the unit and installation, so price was not a big factor. That said, this seems to be the best value out there, especially with it being UL listed. There are other options for less money, but most others are not UL listed. Works great for my Volt. Plug the car in right after work, and I'm able to use EV range again in the evening if I need to go out again. Looks nice on the wall too.

I bought my WattStation through HomeDepot.com, and it was delivered promptly.
This product provides the connection point necessary for charging plug-in electric cars, and is fitted with the SAE standard J1772 car interface plug, on a long cable that is very conveniently flexible.
When connected, the WattStation communicates with the car and ensures that the car is ready to receive a charge, and, importantly, that there is no circuit fault or other problem. Only then does the WattStation send power over the cable into the car.
This is a "Level 2" system, which means that it will provide charging current of up to 30 amperes. At 240 volts, this delivers power to the charger in the car at a rate of up to 7200 Watts. At this level, a car will charge twice as quickly as with the Level 1 (120-volt) system usually delivered with plug-in cars.
The physical form is stylish and is designed to provide a place for neatly looping the long, heavy cable around the housing when not in use. Internally, the components of the WattStation are robust, industrial grade.
Mounting is simplified by an included steel plate which is first attached to the wall. The unit is then slipped into position and secured in place with a key lock. It will not easily be stolen or moved around, even if mounted outdoors.
Two models are available. One model comes with a short AC able and plug already installed for use with a NEMA 6-50R 240-volt receptacle. The other model is intended for direct connection into house wiring, although it can also be fitted with a 10-gauge service cable and suitable connector for your available 240-volt AC receptacle.
The WattStation is no lightweight, at about 30 pounds, but is sturdily constructed and appears capable of many years of reliable service.

My WattStation arrived in only 2 business days! I installed it very easily with help from another person. The key at the bottom is a little tricky, but you'll need to insert the key and unlock the lock and then lift the unit into the mounting bracket with the key in. The key barely fits through the hole inthe bracket, but there is no other way. Once the key is through, the unit will seat properly and you can lock it and remove the key. The LED light is on constantly and is very bright. It lights up my whole garage, but I don't mind it. If it annoys you, it can be disconnected very easily inside the unit by detaching a small clip. When you plug it into your EV, a few seconds later, you'll here a relay pop over, then the quiet hum of a transformer as the car charges. Its nice, b/c you know its working.

- Instructions are confusing and inconsistent
- On one page it says use a 3/8" bolt and on the other it says 1/4" 1/4" is right.
- It says there is a template for mounting included, it is not.
- Later it says use the bracket as a template, but this does not help located the power hole.
- The specs forgot to mention that it does not have a power off switch. So it's on all the time.
- Don't take the plastic off the cover till you are done. I put a little scratch on mine
- The power input holes are behind the binding post. That made pulling and routing the power wires a challenge for these heavy gauge wires.
- Otherwise works OK so far
