Hello,
This is Michelle with GE and I am sorry to hear of this issue with your dishwasher. Please see the following troubleshooting suggestions for this drain issue:
1) Some water, usually one to two cups, remaining in the bottom of the tub is normal. However, if water is covering the bottom of the tub, the dishwasher is not draining properly.
2) Check for paper or large objects covering or blocking the sump area in the rear of the tub.
3) Make sure that the right type and amount of detergent is used: Using the wrong type or too much detergent can cause sudsing that can prevent the dishwasher from draining. Only detergent specifically designed for automatic dishwashers such as Electrasol, Cascade or Cascade Complete should be used.
4) Check disposer plug. If a garbage disposer has been recently installed, it is possible the disposer drain plug was not removed. The drain plug is a plastic piece in the disposer that blocks the hole where the dishwasher hose connects. In the Installation Instructions, will be the procedure for removal of the drain plug. You may also check with the installer.
5) Be sure the kitchen sink drain is not clogged. The dishwasher typically drains into the kitchen sink drain or a garbage disposer. If the dishwasher drains into a garbage disposer, run the disposer to clear the drain system. Do not put hands into the garbage disposer. Serious injury could result. You should always turn on your garbage disposer prior to running the dishwasher to clean out any food or debris within the drain system.
6) Check the drain hose where it connects below the sink for blockage or a kink in the hose. New dishwashers come with a white corrugated drain hose, which should be used. Re-using old, worn out drain hoses may promote kinking and blockage. If it is necessary to extend the length of the drain hose, the total length should not exceed 144" (12 ft). Be sure the extension used is not kinked or crushed. See your dishwasher installation instructions for details.
7) Check the air gap if one is installed. It could be clogged. An air gap (not part of the dishwasher) is usually located on top of the sink.
If the above suggestions do not resolve the issue, service may be needed. If you would like to schedule a service appointment, please contact GE Consumer Service at 1-800-432-2737.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good replacement This washer was as expected, an emergency replacement for an old Kenmore. The cleaning performance is just average, but it's better than what we had! The pleasant surprise is how quiet it is. If you just want a decent replacement for a rent house or a place you don't plan on keeping forever, this dishwasher is fine. If you're looking for an upgrade over just basic functionality, you'll be happier if you spend more. April 9, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Dont waste your money Although this dishwasher may clean the dishes, the dishes NEVER dry no matter what you do. I have had a tech replace the heater vent with a recommended replacement for this KNOWN problem and there is no change. You can lift a glass or anything out of the dishwasher after the cycle and it will POUR water on to you because it is still so wet. Additionally, if you don't leave the dishwasher open after a cycle, it will begin to smell moldy because the inside never drys. Obvious problem for this model, don't waste your money...GE cannot fix it. Unfortunate because it is quiet....just frustrating. March 26, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Wet dishes. 3 hour cycle I've experienced two of these now due to a warranty replacement. This dishwasher doesn't dry the dishes. It takes three hours to complete its cycle. There is a vent for the steam, but it is not powered, so most of the water remains on your dishes. Stay away from GE dishwashers. It's funny that they tell you to take all these extra steps to try to get your dishes to dry. How about YOU (GE) take an extra step and get your ventilation working. July 28, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by So disappointing... Does not dry the dishes, even when using the "Boost Water Temp" option; does not empty liquid detergent cup during any wash cycle, even with flatware tray empty right in front of it; takes 2+ hours to run "Normal" or "Heavy" cycle (and you can't tell where it's at during the cycle to know how much longer it may take), if using detergent pods instead of liquid detergent, pod can't get to the water because the flatware basket blocks it (with or without flatware in it). Thankfully I didn't have to buy this piece of junk as it was already installed when I purchased my home, but I want to save anyone else from wasting their money. I will be replacing this unit with something else as soon as I can. December 27, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Worst dishwasher ever Came with our new house and has turned out to be a total let-down. It absolutely never dries our dishes and is noisy. I will assume it cleans but we always scrape the food off our dishes prior to placing them into the dishwasher anyways. This thing will not dry, not even close. Everything has passed two inspections at our new house. very disappointed! We will be buying a new one soon. May 3, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by JUNK CHEAPEST USELESS DISHWASHER ON THE MARKET. CAME WITH BRAND NEW CONSTRUCTION HOUSE. DOES NOT WASH OR DRY DISHES PROPERLY. SERVICE TECHNICIANS BEEN TO MY HOUSE 6-7 TIMES AND THE MACHINE STILL DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY AND KARIN FROM CUSTOMER SERVICE REFUSES TO REPLACE IT. GE HAS REPLACED PARTS, DONE SOFT WARE UPDATES, BLAMED WATER QUALITY, BLAMED WATER TEMPERATURE, BLAMED DETERGENT, BLAMED RINSE AIDS, AND STILL DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY. WAITING FOR MORE PARTS TO BE SHIPPED AND INSTALLED. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND HEADACHES AND BUY ANOTHER BRAND. September 25, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Most problematic dishwasher We have had this dishwasher for about 6 months. The lower wash arm has come off several times and now wobbles so it hits the bottom rack even with nothing in it. The soap dispenser works about half the time and I often have to run the dishwasher multiple times to get the dishes to look clean so energy efficiency is null. I have tried different soaps, less soap, products for hard water,I prewash the dishes in the sink and they come out looking dirtier than when I put them in.The heated dry doesn't work at all. You are better off just opening the dishwasher after the cycle and letting the dishes air dry or hand drying. I didn't purchase this dishwasher, my mother in law did and does not have the info to file the warranty or I would be sending it back. July 21, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Can't seem to stop the leak. This GE dishwasher works pretty well if using the steam and boost options. You still have to rinse stuck on or dried on food, but that's to be expected. I just wish I could fix the leak coming from the door gasket area. It's done it since new and I've replaced the door gasket with the supposed updated part. It's better but still a small to medium drip on the floor from the lower left side. I wish I would have called a service tech and had GE fix the problem when it was under warranty. October 21, 2014
