Customer Questions & Answers

what is the noise level [DB]

Asked by: Anonymous
GE got their products confused. This was supposed to be the noise level of a turbofan for a 737. Instead, it got sent to the dishwasher division.

The slot on the left hand side of the dishwasher, is is a handle? Also does this latch when you close it? Instead of using the knob thing to lock?

Hi-this is Sue from GE. We are happy to hear of your interest in our GE Built-In Dishwasher GSD3360DSS! The slot on the left hand side of the control panel is the vent. You may see water vapor (or steam) coming out of the vent near the door latch, during the dishwasher operation. The door latch is located in the center of the control panel. Slide the latch to the left to lock the door. You can click on the photo or scroll your mouse across the photo for a larger view of the door latch. Thanks for checking with us!

is the tub plastic

Asked by: Anonymous
Hello, Thank you for your interest in the GE Built-In Dishwasher in Stainless Steel model # GSD3360DSS. This dishwasher model offers the PermaTuf tub and door liner. Tough, durable polypropylene-base material similar to that used in battery cases and football helmets was specially formulated to create the PermaTuf tub and door liner. The PermaTuf tub and door liner won't chip, peel or crack in normal use and it can't rust! I hope this helps! Donna with GE

Front Control Dishwasher in Stainless Steel is rated 2.9 out of 5 by 215.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Acceptable Not enough space on the top rack for tall glasses or other dishes that should not go on the bottom rack. The dishwasher came with our new home. We would not have purchased it on our own.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Downgrade Thankfully I did not purchase this, it was new with our fully upgraded apartment but this dishwasher is a total downgrade. Immediately when I opened the washer I was bummed: One spinning sprayer on bottom rack with a center spray funnel feature to spray the top, horribly designed racks that make it nearly impossible to place items, the top rack doesn't fit taller glasses, and the spacers on the racks are stupidly designed and don't hold anything securely, and a latch lock, spin to start. (Outdated!) This is the same size as the last dishwasher but only fits half the dishes... so I'll be using twice the energy and water to wash the same amount of dishes. I feel like this dishwasher is straight from Y2K. And it's loud!!!! Good luck trying to have a conversation in the kitchen while this is washing.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Dishwasher good for the price This is a pretty basic dishwasher, but works well for our needs. It's true that you cannot put any dishes that are significantly dirty (e.g., dried up food) in the dishwasher and expect them to get clean, so you will have to pre-wash your dirtier dishes. Otherwise, it cleans dishes just fine (we use good detergent and jet dry, though). All of our cups fit on the top rack except for a couple of really tall ones. Ultimately, if you're on a budget, this dishwasher works well, is easy to use, and looks nice but if you can spend a couple hundred dollars more, I would probably get a different model.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from made cheaply Purchased new home, this is what was installed. It's a VERY BASIC unit, cheaply made. Would never buy it as a replacement model. Hope it lasts a year or two. But hard to believe it could last longer. Already hearing a bit more noise since it's been installed....can't wait to see what racket it makes a year from now. Recommend you look at other models, or save up for a better one!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Garbage collects in bottom of dishwasher This appliance was installed by the builder. We bought the house when it was a year old and have been here a year. I rinse my dishes well, but here is gray, dirty matter that remains in the bottom of the dishwasher. I wipe it off, but most of it is under the basket like cover where the drain is. There are no instructions for removing the cover and cleaning the drain. I am afraid I will break it if I try to take it apart myself, although I would love to replace this noisy contraption, I can't afford that. There should be instructions for cleaning this.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very loud Broke after 1 1/2 year. Could have been built to last longer.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Like living in a shack next to Niagara Falls We have had the "pleasure" of using this piece of junk thanks to an apparently bad (for residents) decision made by the builder of our new apartment community. The only time we have ever had our neighbor drop by to complain about the noise was the first time we tried to watch a movie with the dishwasher running. This things is so loud it's impossible to hear human speech in a movie while it's running if you're in the same area--which makes it about the worst choice for an apartment. Oh and apparently someone didn't think that it was important to give cleaning directions since they didn't mention any in the manual. After two months of use from being brand new this thing smells like Manhattan in the summer when we run it. Dis. gust. Ing.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from I'd rather wash dishes by hand... When we built our house we paid for "upgraded appliances" and the only thing upgraded about this dishwasher is that dishes get washed twice. There are no lights to let you know if it's even working, the way the top rack is set up isn't the greatest. My adult cups don't even fit up there, I have to wash them on the bottom rack and hope they don't melt. And it may be that mine is defected, but the soap compartment doesn't open up and release the soap like it should. And when it does, there is always soap residue on the 'clean dishes'. This dishwasher definitely isn't worth part of the $4000 extra dollars we paid to have an "upgrade" in our kitchen.
