Hello,
This is Michelle with GE and I am sorry to hear of this issue with your dishwasher. Please see the following troubleshooting suggestions for this drain issue:
1) Some water, usually one to two cups, remaining in the bottom of the tub is normal. However, if water is covering the bottom of the tub, the dishwasher is not draining properly.
2) Check for paper or large objects covering or blocking the sump area in the rear of the tub.
3) Make sure that the right type and amount of detergent is used: Using the wrong type or too much detergent can cause sudsing that can prevent the dishwasher from draining. Only detergent specifically designed for automatic dishwashers such as Electrasol, Cascade or Cascade Complete should be used.
4) Check disposer plug. If a garbage disposer has been recently installed, it is possible the disposer drain plug was not removed. The drain plug is a plastic piece in the disposer that blocks the hole where the dishwasher hose connects. In the Installation Instructions, will be the procedure for removal of the drain plug. You may also check with the installer.
5) Be sure the kitchen sink drain is not clogged. The dishwasher typically drains into the kitchen sink drain or a garbage disposer. If the dishwasher drains into a garbage disposer, run the disposer to clear the drain system. Do not put hands into the garbage disposer. Serious injury could result. You should always turn on your garbage disposer prior to running the dishwasher to clean out any food or debris within the drain system.
6) Check the drain hose where it connects below the sink for blockage or a kink in the hose. New dishwashers come with a white corrugated drain hose, which should be used. Re-using old, worn out drain hoses may promote kinking and blockage. If it is necessary to extend the length of the drain hose, the total length should not exceed 144" (12 ft). Be sure the extension used is not kinked or crushed. See your dishwasher installation instructions for details.
7) Check the air gap if one is installed. It could be clogged. An air gap (not part of the dishwasher) is usually located on top of the sink.
If the above suggestions do not resolve the issue, service may be needed. If you would like to schedule a service appointment, please contact GE Consumer Service at 1-800-432-2737.

Rated 3.5 out of 5 by 1755 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Dishwasher This replaced a different GE dishwasher. This one has a few more features, works well and is quiet enough. It's much easier to load than our last dishwasher and seems to have more room inside, even though it's the same size. February 25, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by This product has all the features we needed This dishwasher was bought for our office...a staff of about 15. The machine is well built, durable and has a lot of nice features. Best of all, when it runs, it's extremely quiet! June 13, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good Dishwasher unless you need repair! This is a Good Dishwasher but if you need Home Depot repair service with their 5 year service contract, in central New Jersey, you will be gravely disappointed! Four months and a host of cancelled scheduled repairs, the dishwasher is still not working. The contracted service repair companies that service their service contracts Are what I would consider the most incompetent companies I have delt with over the past 35 years of Home Depot purchases. The Home Depot sales person has helped as much as he could but the store manager has been useless . I called a local service repair man who showed up immediately and diagnosed the repair need in one dishwasher cycle! I will be sending Home Depot the repair bill and will not be purchasing at Home Depot again. Pcrichards here I come. October 22, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Simple operation, great value! Perfect choice for an easy to use, simple operation, dishwasher. Installation is similar to other dishwashers. January 27, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Satisfied! Very happy overall; a little noisy, but gets er done! February 5, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Lov it I am very happy with how quiet the dishwasher is and with the "light" setting. I don't usually need to run it for long to get the dishes clean August 25, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Terrible This is the worst dishwasher I have ever owned. Does not dry. Runs forever and still doesn't get it all clean. July 21, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not all that great after using it several months. Disappointing. It takes hours to finish on normal cycle. No indication of when the cycle will end. So quiet that others in the household can easily interrupt the cycle to toss in a dish and it won't restart the cycle. Controls are confusing and vague. It won't clean dishes well unless you use modern encapsulated dishwashing soap. The older powder style detergent is not 'active' enough with this washers very low power spray system. My old washer was faster and did a better job. Silverware falls through slots in rack too easily. Silverware needs to be inspected closely. Spray doesn't penetrate well. The ends of the silverware rack get minimal spray pressure. Middle of the rack cleans ok. Couldn't find a review on this product before purchase. Now I know. March 8, 2015
