I love my new dishwasher color but am not happy with the performance. My Cascade Action Packs do not dissolve when my wash is complete. I open the door and the plastic casing is stuck to the inside of the soap dispenser cup and soap is all over my doors and on my dishware and glasses.

I've tried Finish also and the same thing. It seems the packet doesn't dissolve or is left behind because all I get when I open the door after the wash is complete is soap dripping out of the dispenser and clumps all over my dishes with the plastic casing which holds the soap still there.

Do I have to use powders only which is going back in time...lol

This can block the jets and not allow the detergent to get properly dissolved. Thanks so much for checking with us. Have a good day! Read Less

Hi piciunis-this is Sue from GE Appliances. We are excited to hear of your interest! The stainless steel is not smudge-proof. Check out model GDF540HMFES in slate. Slate is a highly engineered, low-gloss matte metallic paint finish and resists fingerprints. Thanks for checking with us!

Answer:
Hello HappyMomma,
This is Michelle with GE and I am happy to help.
Yes, this run time is normal. A Normal wash cycle can run for up to two hours or more depending on the options selected, ie. Steam, Wash Temp, and Heated Dry.
Thank you for checking.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by WORST PURCHASE EVER TOOK BEST BUY INSTALLERS 3 TRIPS TO INSTALL CORRECTLY. FIRST INSTALLER LEFT, PUT IN DISHES, UNIT LITERALLY FELL OUT FROM UNDER COUNTERTOP. 2 MORE TRIPS TO FINALLY GET INSTALLATION CORRECT. THEN - OH YES, IT CONTINUES. DISHWASHER RUNS 2-3 HOURS, DISHES STILL CLOUDY. CHANGED ALL TYPES OF DETERGENT AND ANTI-STREAK RECOMMENDED BY GE- STILL CLOUDY. NOW, WITH BRAND NEW STAINLESS STEELSILVERWARE--MORE SPOTTY THAN EVER. RUINING SILVERWARE. CANNOT BELIEVE BEST BUY EVEN HAS THIS ON THEIR PRODUCT LINE. IF ANYONE TOUCHES OR LEANS NEAR DW, IT AUTO STARTS. ONLY HOLDS 1/2 OF WHAT KITCHENAID USED TO HOLD. INCREDIBLY DISAPPOINTED. ENERGY BILLS THROUGH THE ROOF--OH, AND STILL DIRTY DISHES. MORRISTOWN, NJ February 18, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Read Your Manual, and You'll Be Fine The manual recommends pacs. When I tried liquid detergent, it emptied incompletely and left a mess running down my nice stainless interior door. Everything came out sparkling clean when I used pacs instead. This machine is smartly designed and has more interior space than my previous model. I love that upper & lower racks provide plenty of space for silverware. Note that heat dry is not turned on by default the first time you plug in the machine; you just push the button to turn it on, then it remembers your preferences. I thought the dry feature was broken the first time I used it, but I simply hadn't read the instructions! August 17, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent product for performance and price. This was a product purchased for my daughter with twin daughters so this product would be used more often than most. I was impressed with the products ease of use, price that is impressive within itself for all the products capabilities, highly recommended, quiet, we actually had to listen closely to be sure it was on and in a condo with twins sleeping can be stressful at night. Excellent product!!! I must confess the Home Depot install ppl were extremely professional and spent the time to go over all the attributes of the product, they took a diy from an omg and made life so much easier!!!!!!! Go Depot!!!!!! April 30, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Pump stopped after two months This dishwasher was the first purchase we made together in our first home remodel together and we were very excited to not have to hand wash dishes in our new kitchen. It was working great for about two month and just last night the pump quit. The tub was full of dirty water and the dishes were covered in a white film. I was rather distraught with it being a new appliance. We had such a great experience with Home depot throughout the buying process but it's turning into a nightmare with the GE experience. I'm not a slouch and immediately checked the screens and there wasn't anything in them. The pump kicks on but will not pump. I'm hoping that GE will help us out as we reach out to them in the next couple of days for warranty help. June 24, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Worst Dishwasher Ever Owned! We have had this dishwasher for 2 years and I can't believe we put up with it for this long. This was an expensive dishwasher when we purchased it in 2014. The dispenser door gets stuck all the time and will not open. The wash cycle is so long and dishes do not come out clean or dry. The worst thing, however, is that the door will not latch. We have had service out several times due to the door not latching. First they rearranged the silverware trays, then they replaced the gasket. It worked fine for a couple of washes, then went right back to not latching. Sometimes, after much struggle of holding the door closed and starting the wash cycle while holding the door closed manually for 10 minutes, it will finally "latch"....only an hour later into the wash cycle, start beeping as the latch lets loose and we have to repeat the whole process of holding the door closed while it washes. Yesterday, I could not get the door to latch no matter what I did and finally resorted to shoving a kitchen chair under the door handle to hold the door closed until it finished it's cycle. And before GE tries to say that we aren't loading it right or we have something obstructing the dispenser...that is bull. We have tried every configuration of loading this thing with NO OBSTRUCTIONS and NO SILVERWARE hanging beyond the basket. Bottom line: The latch is too weak and will not hold the door closed. This has been a waste of money & lost time out of work waiting on serviceman from GE. Will be looking at replacing this dishwasher soon and it won't be with a GE model. I'm afraid I have been put off GE appliances for life. May 26, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by As an update to a terrible review earlier. I still stand by the fact that if you use the steam cleaning feature, even if you use the Temp Boost or Sanitize option or go without, with the Heated Dry that the dishes come out wet. However, after running a few more cycles and continuing to try new combinations I've decided that if you put the dishwasher on AutoSense and use the Heated Dry that the dishwasher seems to work very well. I never put anything in the dishwasher that hasn't been thoroughly rinsed anyways. So overall, very energy efficient, and very stylish looking. Very Happy with the purchase. December 18, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great machine Gets the dishes clean quietly. Our previous dishwasher at times sounded like someone was running a bandsaw in the kitchen, but this one is no louder than a refrigerator compressor. The only minor annoyance is that the silverware caddies fall off a little too easily. They're made to be easily removed so that you can bring them over to the drawer, but if you leave them in the machine and try to pull a utensil out of them, the caddy tends to get pulled up with it and then it falls. But, a couple of zip ties solved that problem. January 26, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by First and LAST I got the whole set in slate but there weren't many options. The dishwasher cup worked the first few times but it doesn't open all the way anymore. The new model is made with a bottle cleaner which I would have really needed ... it has only been a year since I've had mine and the new model has so many new features. I understand its 52d level but it's sooo loud. This is the first time I've ever had to buy a dishwasher but I will not repurchase a GE dishwasher. February 29, 2016
