If i install a filter #fxhsc.would this allow more water pressure. I'm on a well. When the filter is on bypass water pressure is normal. My water pressure gauge is not working.I've always had plenty of water pressure.
Or should I consider buying a smaller unit. I bought this unit to remove sediment only I have no problem with water smells or taste.

Answer:
Hi, This is Kim with GE. Thank you for your interest in our filter FXHSC. If you are only concerned with sediment, I would recommend the FXHSC. The FXHTC carbon filter has more restriction and can reduce the water pressure in your application. I suspect the water pressure may be low and the FXHTC restricts it even more. Please let us know if other questions come up.

Hello CG, This is Joyce from GE Appliances. I will be happy to help! Most stores do stock this filter. However we recommend contacting your local store before making a trip. You can also order these directly from GE. If you can't find it locally, GE Parts can be reached by calling 1-800-205-8854. Thanks so much for checking with us. Have a good day!

Please add a product specification that is very important to filtration - micron rating, and whether the filter is washable, reusable.

Buy new ones - throw old ones away. If you looked at the nasty old one you would not want your family to endure the best wash job you could muster up!
The cheaper version I think is 20 microns. The expensive version that filters Chlorine and other stuff should be 5 micron but at 4 times the cost...hmmmm

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by GE whole house Filter The filter is OK, it is just the container that holds the filter is the problem I have had to replace the container twice, because it has cracked on me. I can not figure what or how this is happening. I think it is a defective product. I am hoping to get a reimbursement for this effort. The warranty has a 1 year and to be exchanged at the store. But currently, my store does not carry it anymore. It looks like they are changing product line for something else. So, I changed the filter when fixing the filter unit. It was just lucky on it's placement, that I found it leaking. And it started small and I was loosing over 6 gallon per day. It took them 7 days to get in. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Filters out the mess! Put a dual filter system in my home to filter the well water....wow what a difference! I use the Home Depot pleated filter at the beginning and it really works well eliminating the heavy stuff. Then I use the solid filter on the backside. I am very please the pleated filters really work. Check out the results in my photo. December 10, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good Product Works well as intended, disappointed they don't carrying in store any longer, but as long as I can get them online it works for me. January 12, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Work good to filter sand and drill cuttings out of well water I've been using these for 10 years. Seems like Home Depot change manufacturer in the last year. They seem to filter out finer particles but they plug up a little faster than the old ones. December 23, 2015
