How do the LEDs function?

The timer works, but I don't understand the LEDs. I expect that the time I select would light the adjacent LED, but it only flashes for a fraction of a second every 15 seconds. Is that intentional?

I bought a timer years ago. You push the time button and a green led turns on and stays on for the time you pushed. It works exactly the way most of the people on this review thought it should work. I thought I was buying the same switch because it looked exactly alike. The new switch just flashes when you push the time you want. The LED is blue. I thought I had wired something wrong until I read these reviews. Turns out the old fan timer is Pass & Seymour. So if you want your timer light not to flash but stay on buy the Pass & Seymour. The GE is just fine for me though I found it a nuisance at first because I didn't know the difference. So be aware of how different timer brands act and choose to your tastes. Just wish I knew the differences before I bought the second timer may have chosen differently.

Works for one minute and then is unresponsive

I successfully set up this timer in the upstairs bathroom, and now I'm trying to install one in the downstairs bathroom. After getting it all set up and switching the breaker back on the fan turned on for one minute (as expected). Then it turned off (as expected). But now none of the buttons on the switch will turn it back on again. Thinking it may have been a faulty switch, we exchanged it for a new one. The new one exhibits the same behavior. Any idea why this is happening?

Purchased 2 and they did the same. Came on for one minute, turned off, pushed all the buttons, nothing. they maybe made buy GE but had Home Depot name on them. Note last week sold for 19.95 1/27/16, this week 1/30/16 reduced to 9.95 looks like a clearance to me. Bottom line 2 and a half hours plus gas out of my life.

can this be installed for fan only? Using only +,_ and a ground wire?

Yes. That's exactly what I used it for in a restroom.

On/Off override switch

Hi, I understand the timer funtion, select a time button and the lights stay on for that amount of time and then switch off. What my question is; when you push the large on/off button do the lights stay on indefinitely until the button is pushed again or does it just turn off the current timer setting. i.e. does the large button act as a normal light switch (on indefinitely / off indefinitely)

Yes, the big switch does cause it to function the way you imagine. But in my experience the reliabillity of this switch is just not good enough to employ. Mine failed after working for a week.

A friend had this timer in their home. I liked the time selections even holding the big button for 5 seconds for infinite time. So far, it has meet my expectations, except for longevity, of course. I looked for the LED to do a flash very 20 seconds as mention by another reviewer, but mine just flash once when operated per instructions. Yes, it would be nice for one LED to be like a night light (another reviewer, not happy) and to move as a visual count down timer (as suggested by a reviewer), but for this price, it is very good. If it last five to ten years than it will be excellent and I should have given it five stars.

At first had an issue getting it to ground but after re-wiring it, we have had no problems in the past 2 weeks. I like that you can do a manual override or a set amount of time. I have not experienced the blinking light issue that others have complained about but I installed it in a stand alone bathroom so maybe we just don't notice it.

Replaced an old windup timer that was no longer timing correctly, it would stay on until we turned it manually. This one is an excellent replacement. My only suggestion is that the wire nuts supplied be large enough to connect the stranded leads to #12 solid wires. I had to use a larger nut nut and tin the stranded leads to make a good connection.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great time saver, utility saver, safe lighting. I've used this time down for several years in my workshop for exterior lighting. . Needed to install another for my deck lighting, installed right by the patio door. Why is this not carried in store? First one was, second one had to order on line. Allows never to forget turning off lights. Plan to use another in the bathroom.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Light timer I bought two switches for two different lights. They work great. As mentioned on other review's you must have the ground wire connected to earth ground or it will not work.
