Customer Questions & Answers

how to replace fluoresent sockets

Asked by: Anonymous
The holes on the sockets have a common connection. Strip the wire back 1/4" and stab it into the hole until the copper is completely in the hole. The small slot is used to remove the wire with a slotted device or small screwdriver. The two holes have to do with the old style of ballasts that had the power running directly to the sockets. When the lamp was seated in the socket, the connection is completed and the ballast would have power. Modern electronic ballasts have the power direct to the ballast so this feature is no longer necessary.

I'm with Confused in January 2015. Where do I attach the wire in the spring-loaded end? There are 2 holes and one slot.

Asked by: HighNote

I do not know where to put the wire...there are two holes and also a slot with copper hole in it. Which spot does the wire go into?
