Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Crocagator This interlock kit is a must when using a generator through the main panel. Easy Install, and makes it impossible to run generator power while main switch is on. I recommend this product.

I just bought and installed this interlock on my GE Powermark Gold LoadCenter, ( 4-handle left-right mains), meticulously following the instructions (though they are barely useful). The install actually was very easy, but when I put the front cover back on, the tabs for the main breaker(s) and generator breakers just don't properly engage. I was readily able to turn on the backfeed breaker while the main was still energized (no, there was no generator connected). I was SURE I had done something wrong, but if I did I can't figure out what it is. Exhaustive research online has turned up nothing, I expect an interlock to absolutely, positively lock out the alternate power source. This product really doesn't do that. It's really appalling given that it is GE designed and made for use on a GE panel. I'm thinking that my only solution is a an aftermarket product, but they all look so cheezy compared to the GE product. Still, no matter how nicely built, it's not worth much if it doesn't even accomplish its basic function. This is a total bummer. (Note that my panel is installed inverted for bottom feed line power.)

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by WiFiGuy Effective and affordable compared to other brands of interlocks. Still, expensive for such a small, simple product. The arms of the interlock had to be bent into a flatter position using a vise and some muscle otherwise the breakers that were supposed to be locked out could be engaged by flipping them under the metal tabs that are intended to block their movement. Installation was simple. The template provided for drilling the holes to mount the interlock on the breaker panel cover was of good quality. The instructions were not clear as to where the washers and lock washers were to be installed. The provided diagram only indicates the use of 2 non-locking washers.

Found this product online and it was cheaper at Home Depot. It was easy to install with the instructions that were provided.

If you are installing portable generator transfer equipment, interlock kits are a good way to accomplish a safe reliable means for transfer, without other equipment. The installation instructions are very clear. Be sure to properly label everything and secure an electrical permit prior to starting the project.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by BlakDrgn Great inexpensive way to backfeed legally!
I went looking for a 200 amp main load center to replace my out dated unit. I stumbled across this little guy and grabbed it and a new GE Gold load center.
The added advantage to getting this, is any unit you install it on can be installed upside down, as all breakers including the mains, are side to side. (advantageous to me, the mains come in on the bottom, and house runs go out the top.)
I live in Florida, and this is a 100% to code legal means of back feeding your panel during outages.
(my fingers are blocking my name and phone number on the panel in the pic attached)

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Joe1978 Excellent product.
This is a great product for those who want to install a generator inlet box on the outside of there home to feed power to your normal GE PowerMark electrical panel during a power outage without the need for a separate generator panel/transfer switch. This locks the main breaker in the "off" position while the breaker for your feed from the generator is in the "on" position, and vice versa. This ensures that you won't have power coming to the panel from 2 different sources. In other words, this is a very inexpensive alternative to the transfer switch/generator panel. This is a nice kit. It seems well built of quality materials. Don't be scared by the hole drilling, the instructions are very clear and the kit comes with a template so you won't mess it up. Unlike the similar kit for Siemens panels, this GE kit does NOT waste any valuable circuit breaker slots. I highly recommend this product.
