Answer:
This is Lisa from GE Appliances.
I am happy to assist you with your question.
In order to install a GE Appliances over-the-range microwave under a 15" deep cabinet a Bump Out Kit is required. The 15" Cabinetry Bump Out Kit is a wall bracket that extends the unit forward by 3". The kit # is JX15BUMPBB.
Thank you for considering GE Appliances!

1.7 cu. ft. Over the Range Convection Microwave in Stainless Steel with Sensor Cooking is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 972.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from So sad... I have loved this convection microwave...but now I am so sad because a white powder keeps appearing on the floor of the oven. I called my appliance repairman and he knew immediately what I described...he said he only sees it on the GE...I was away from home and didn't remember the brand...sure enough, it is GE. It is the insulation on the top which is degrading and cannot be repaired. So sad because I have loved it...never had a problem with it...now I must replace it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good purchase Bought his product to replace 4 year old GE stainless steel microwave convection because wanted to keep all appliances the same. My only disappointment besides the prior product only lasting 4 years is that the new stainless secondary color is grey and not black so it does not match the other appliances in my kitchen. What happened to appliances lasting 20 years and now looks like I need to replace all my appliances to match. What's up with that!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Failed after 1 yr & 10 months Happy to've found a decent convection microwave that generally matched our other stainless steel appliances. Vent fan is exceptionally loud. Ok microwave. VERY disappointed when it failed less than 2 yrs old. Purchase date 10/13/14. Wouldn't let us take one home. Had to wait, & take off work, for delivery. Failed 8/27/16. Home Depot wouldn't accept review without at least 1, unearned, star.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Waste of Money - Second Repair in 2 Weeks I bought his oven and had it installed mid-December. The third week of January, after using the convection roast feature, it completely died, no power at all. GE repair came the next week had to take it off the cabinet mount to repair it. Two days later I used the convection roast again with the same result. Scheduled a second repair appointment a few days out. Just got a call from the repairman, he won't be coming today as he is ordering parts and they will call with a new appointment in about a week. What a colossal waste of $500.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor Panel Visibility, awkward and complicated controls, Impossible ordering and delivery The microwave installed easily enough except I had the identical manufacturer before, with an identical size, and an identical mounting methodology, but annoyingly all the mounting points were one inch different in location for no discernable reason so it required all new holes to be drilled. The front panel of the unit is strangely difficult to see. You have to turn up the room lights to maximum to read the panel letters. It desperately needs a backlight or a brighter, higher contrast panel. The controls are also awkward to navigate around and are not nearly as intuitive as the previous model that I had from GE. sometimes you have to spin the knob, other times press it with no clear pattern. Then there are the combinations of knob spinning and button pressing that seem inconsistent. A Usability study is sorely needed :-)

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Overall not happy with unit vs costs The unit's only wabout 3 years old and now it stoped working all together. The vent has bee a problem since day one. I've had to use duct tape to get it to vent properly and now th emicro isn't working. I will not buy another ge. I bought the stove, refer and micro and regret it. You get what you pay for and the cafe appliances SUCK!
