This was a replacement for our old GE microwave that still functioned; however, the interior had rusted to the point the turntable would often get stuck. We bought this model because GE said this was the same size and would fit into the existing cabinet space. It fits but the price was $100 more than the previous microwave and the touch pad buttons are smaller and not laid out as well. Our old microwave had a small GE Profile logo on the lower left side of the door while this model has a much larger centered GE logo, which is not aesthetically pleasing.
Also, GE said the existing trim kit wouldn't fit this microwave. The only difference in this and the old one was a slight curvature to the top of the old one where this one is straight. Everything else is EXACTLY THE SAME, down to the screw holes, slots, size and trim kit template. We compared it to our old one, kept it, and returned the new one.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by chulo191 This replacement item brought my household back to normalcy
The microwave was a replacement for the same model we had for about ten years. This one has some newer features. The down time waiting on arrival was eye opening. I never realized how much we relied on our microwave. This is a wonderful product and it has brought our household back to normalcy.

My impression of this product is that it is a 'counter-top' unit without the "sides" that enclose it. It slides into the cabinet cutout. The microwave it replaces (16 years old) was just as big, but had much smaller cooking cavity and did NOT require a trim kit.
Installing the trim kit around the microwave was the most difficult part. I am not a carpenter, so getting the oven centered, at the correct height, and secured in the cutout was a challenge! I needed the help of my son in order to install it -- lift oven into cutout, plug/unplug oven during install, adding shims, etc.
A carpenter probably could have installed the oven in 30 minutes. It took me 1.5 hours to assemble oven and get the trim kit installed.
1. Although rated at 400 watts more than old oven, I can detect no hotter/faster cooking.
2. Turntable is nice.
3. Interior oven volume is quite good. (Much bigger than old oven.)
4. Clock (on front of oven) is *much* smaller (and much less convenient) than old oven.
5. Product would be 'better' if no trim kit was required. Make flanges/edges of oven front panel extend out to 27" or 30". That way, no trim kit installation is required... just slide oven in, engaging anti-tip secured to cutout floor.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by RJ Still a great product
We replaced an old GE microwave that served us faithfully for many years. This new one looks just as good, is slightly bigger and operates beautifully.
The installation of the new trim packet was much more tedious than the previous unit.

This microwave oven replaces an earlier GE model that lasted about 8 years. We have been using this one for about 3 weeks and so far it has performed as expected.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Matt Good replacement but costly.
Although the unit itself appears to be a solid product, I have heartache with the fact that the same exact unit that sits on the counter is about half the price of wall unit. I will never understand why the wall unit version costs twice as much when all you are adding in is the trim panel. Good unit but over priced for what it is.

had to buy this one as it fit the space needed to replace old one. more expensive than needed but could not find any other that had a trim kit to fit. it functions as a microwave just fine.
