My cabinet is exactly 24" wide. I need a microwave appliance that will fit that space. My current model is actually only 23 3/4" wide. All your models list 24". Is this the exact measurement or Will they fit the same space?

Hello TXHomeowner, This is Joyce from GE Appliances. I will be happy to help! The PEB7226SF model will be a great replacement for the JE1860 model. Keep in mind, due to different configurations and design changes involving airflow and heat issues, new microwaves are only approved for installation with current trim kits. Thanks so much for checking with us. Have a good day!

I have a new microwave and some times I notice the plate moving slowly forward and backwards when I'm heating a glass of soup. I have made sure the plate is properly seated and the wheels on the turntable are clean.

The turntable can turn in either direction when the microwave starts cooking. For example, the tray might rotate clockwise one time and counter-clockwise the next, or turn clockwise twice in a row. Electrical circuitry causes this direction change, and is normal. It is also normal for the tray to change direction when the cooking or defrost cycle is interrupted (paused). Also, while the turntable is turning, it is normal for the tray to hesitate, jerk, drag, or pause. Thanks for checking with us! Read Less

Hi, good question! Had to go to the microwave to make sure of my answer! If you're using the BEVERAGE button, the turntable will turn clockwise until the cycle is done, but if you hit pause or stop and then hit start, the turntable will turn in the opposite direction. During the cook cycle the turntable turns in one direction but any time you hit pause, when you restart the turntable turns in the opposite direction. Using the timer by itself does not affect the turntable i.e. nothing works except the digital timer on the control panel. I notice that when something very light is on the turntable that when it starts there is a slight 'jerking' motion but as the cooking process continues it smooths out. I never goes backwards and forwards for any extended period of time. You state that you're heating soup so that's heavy enough that once the turntable starts moving it should keep going in the same direction. Hope this helps! Read Less

The old built-in trim kit will not fit onto any of the new models today. Thank you. Read Less

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 4.2 out of 5 by 1116 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good GE Microwave only disappointment is the trim kit i bought with it did not completely cover my existing cabinet hole from prior GE mircowave June 4, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Still a great product We replaced an old GE microwave that served us faithfully for many years. This new one looks just as good, is slightly bigger and operates beautifully. The installation of the new trim packet was much more tedious than the previous unit. December 29, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good for the price My impression of this product is that it is a 'counter-top' unit without the "sides" that enclose it. It slides into the cabinet cutout. The microwave it replaces (16 years old) was just as big, but had much smaller cooking cavity and did NOT require a trim kit. Installing the trim kit around the microwave was the most difficult part. I am not a carpenter, so getting the oven centered, at the correct height, and secured in the cutout was a challenge! I needed the help of my son in order to install it -- lift oven into cutout, plug/unplug oven during install, adding shims, etc. A carpenter probably could have installed the oven in 30 minutes. It took me 1.5 hours to assemble oven and get the trim kit installed. Perceptions: 1. Although rated at 400 watts more than old oven, I can detect no hotter/faster cooking. 2. Turntable is nice. 3. Interior oven volume is quite good. (Much bigger than old oven.) 4. Clock (on front of oven) is *much* smaller (and much less convenient) than old oven. 5. Product would be 'better' if no trim kit was required. Make flanges/edges of oven front panel extend out to 27" or 30". That way, no trim kit installation is required... just slide oven in, engaging anti-tip secured to cutout floor. September 6, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by a fine microwave had to buy this one as it fit the space needed to replace old one. more expensive than needed but could not find any other that had a trim kit to fit. it functions as a microwave just fine. December 8, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good replacement but costly. Although the unit itself appears to be a solid product, I have heartache with the fact that the same exact unit that sits on the counter is about half the price of wall unit. I will never understand why the wall unit version costs twice as much when all you are adding in is the trim panel. Good unit but over priced for what it is. October 13, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Microwave Oven This microwave oven replaces an earlier GE model that lasted about 8 years. We have been using this one for about 3 weeks and so far it has performed as expected. November 10, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by did not work The first time out of the box and the microwave did not work. The light came on, the fan came on ,the turntable turned, but it did not heat at all. I tried diffrent power levels. Still it did not heat anything. The worst part is I had to order a custom trim kit to fit my existing cabinet. Home depot would not pick the non functioning unit back up, so I had to arrange to get this bulky item back to the store. It took over an hour and a half to get a refund. I do not blame this on the nice ladies at the store, but on GE for giving them the run around. They sold a product that did not work from the get go! Unfortunately, I am forced to order the exact model to fit the custom ordered trim kit. I hope this one is not a dud! July 18, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Replacement microwave unit. The microwave looks nice. However, the new unit does not fit the existing trim kit and I don't know what to do. August 25, 2015
