Customer Questions & Answers

my new ge profile model psds5ygxss was installed two days ago. convenient to have rollers to move refrigerator, however after

pulling on the doors to open, it creeps forward. find I have to push it back several inches several times a day, It is located on hardwood floors. Any suggestions to prevent this rolling forward. thank you.

Hello Marty, Thank you for choosing the GE Profile Side by Side Counter Depth refrigerator model # PSCS5RGXSS. Please use caution when using a refrigerator installed on a hard floor. Due to the size of the doors and the strength of the door gaskets, it is possible that it may roll or move when one of the doors is opened. A piece of wood or plastic furniture coaster with felt on the bottom may be placed under the wheels. With more food added, the refrigerator will also settle into the floor from the weight of the food load. The refrigerarator does need to be leveled properly with the rollers firmly on the floor. To remove the grille, grab each side and pull straight forward. Some models have screws that need to be removed. To adjust the roller leg adjusting screw, turn it clockwise to raise, counter-clockwise to lower. Use an adjustable wrench (3/8 inch bolt) or pliers. The front of the refrigerator should be 1/4 inch higher than the rear. Donna with GE

With model #PSC25NSWA Is there a water filter that needs to be changed?

Asked by: Anonymous
Hi, this is Sheree from GE and I will be glad to assist you with your questions on our model PSCS5RGXSS. This model does have a water filter that should be replaced about every 6 months. It is located in the back of the top shelf in the refrigerator section and should be replaced with filter MSWF. Please check pricing and availability on the Home Depot website. I hope this helps and thanks for your interest in our GE products!

Customer Reviews

24.6 cu. ft. Side by Side Refrigerator in White, Counter Depth is rated 2.1 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Look before you buy and old is better Replaced a '94 GE Profile with this model. Stunned at the dis improvements. Clearly designed for cheap and minimal assembly, not the end user. Interior design mostly un adjustable shelves and too many storage bins that, when removed, don't yield shelf space. Freezer section devoid of usable door storage, un-like 94 model. Ice bin/thru door setup robs space. Can't reach into ice bin to get cubes. Bin much smaller than old. Ice doesn't make as fast even in turbo mode. Refrig sits on wheels that creak every time door is opened/closed. Set screws on door handles not flush so you can hurt yourself on the closed door handle. Overall, look in person at the actual refrig you are going to buy before you buy it. The bad news is that GE is probably no different than competing brands available today.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I got this becouse I needed a tall and counter depth refridge....If you have alot of left overs this refridge is a little small. you also have to make sure you close the door firmly, If you have stuff in your hand and try to close it with your elbow it will swing back and only close half way....Maybe thats way it has a door alarm. It rolles in to place vary easy but maybe to easy becouse when you try to open the door it will sometimes roll forward 3 to 4 inches. Over all it's a good refridge, it makes ice pretty fast.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Looks good and that's about it! Horrible fridge not worth the money. About a year after purchase the fridge would not stay cold which is what a fridge is supposed to do. Got it repaired and the cost was about $200. About a year and a half later same problem and the fridge won't go below 47 degrees. Last time it was a problem with the freon and of course the part that needed to be replaced was not covered by the warranty. NO MORE GE appliances ever!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't waste your money! Just out of warranty, ice kept melting then randomly refreezing. Each time, food spoiled. Replaced motherboard. Worked fine for a few months. Then fridge wouln't stay cold. Told we have a freon leak. Too costly to try to find, need to replace. Will NOT replace w/ GE. Dishwasher no better. Talk about planned obsolescence.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Choose another brand I purchased a counter depth, side by side GE Profile refrigerator in 2007, thinking I was buying a high quality refrigerator. In less than 6 years, no less than 9 integral parts have failed. My refrigerator has not been working for 3 1-week periods, meaning that all the food in either the refrigerator or freezer has spoiled. GE repair services are terrible. Each time, I've waited 3-5 days for service, and then an additional 3-5 days for parts. Once they came and provided a new part, but it didn't solve the problem. I then had to wait an additional 5 days for a second service. Choose a different brand.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Pure junk! I have had two of these in 5 years! Great huh? Not if you plan on keeping anything cold because it can't! First one was DOA second one is now dead and or dying and it's now out of the extended warranty by 2 months! What a waste of money!!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Except for the icemaker The refrigerator fits perfectly, and has an excellent control system. It maintains selected temperaturesvery well; the versatile relocatable shelves and drawers are a pleasure. But the icemaker (in-door delivery) isn't able to keep up with a two-person demand in our southern climate. Also the auger has difficulty delivering "cubes" to the chute uphill. The designer needs to review gravity. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Looks great, but noisy Looks really good. The fridge part has great shelves and bins. Door bins are deep. The freezer shelves are awful they fall in constantly and it doesn't make much ice. The compressor is starting to make an awful noise. An appliance that cost this much should perform better than it does and it should last longer than it has. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
