We have had this item for several years and it works like a charm. The only noticeably disappointment is that over time the dashboard gets scratched. That is to be expected with continuous wear and tear. The electronic controls works as intended, only drawback you have to clear the settings as this is not done automatically, you get a loud warning tone reminding you to do so. For what it is supposed to do it does well, heating elements, temperature control and setting, baking and self-cleaning. Now if GE could provide a stainless steel version that I could upgrade to match the color of the other appliances in my kitchen.

I purchased this range as a replacement for a light yellow, 27" GE drop-in range purchased in 1959, which I loved. The new range does all the things it is supposed to do. The burners heat up very quickly. The oven (although a lot smaller than my old one) also heats quickly and is fairly accurate. I am enjoying the window in the door and the light in the oven. Since it hasn't gotten dirty yet, I have not had an occasion to use the self-clean option.
If you are planning to replace another GE 27" drop-in be prepared for a lot of work. This range is installed in a totally different way than the old one and required a lot of 'work arounds' to make it fit. It is also quite a bit different in size both inside and out.

This was a replacement range for me. It does everything that my old range did not. People warned me that the self-cleaning feature would not work well - not true. My oven was spotless after the first self-cleaning. I highly recommend this range based on its design and ease of use.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Rusty64 Nothing stays the same--not even GE ranges
Not wanting to change the configuration of our kitchen, we had to stick with the 27 inch, and GE was the only way to do that. (We had a 1969 vintage GE P-7 that had given excellent service.) We had wanted the smooth cooktop, but that isn't available with the 27 inch. However, it's not quite so bad since the top lifts up to clean under the cooking elements.
We also would have preferred 2 large and 2 small elements, but the stove comes only with one large and 3 small burners.
Elements heat up quickly, and are more infinitely adjustable than our previous push-button controls . Oven capacity is reduced (and it was small enough before!), but the accuracy is better.
Oven cleaning is not quite as good as the old one. A noticeable amount of soil is left behind after the same cleaning time as our old GE.
We have a Bosch black dishwasher and wanted this in black, but that was a mistake. It always looks dirty, and it's impossible to get all the grease off the cooktop. Go with another color if possible.

If you need a 27" drop in range, this is the only one you will find. As a result, it is greatly over-priced. We were stuck with it because we did not want to start in with major renovations in this condo we had just purchased. As it was, we still had to have a handyman in to cut out some of the old cabinet to make it fit. It is a nice range in its functionality, but it does not have a back piece along the top rear and there is nothing for a pot to back up to other than the wall. It is adequate for our needs, but it would have been nice to have a bit of a choice.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by iahin This product is smaller than my original.
My original 27" stove (53 years old) finally gave out, so I ordered another as I was not ready to remodel and cut out a cupboard to fit in a 30" stove. The appearance is fine, but the inside part of the oven has smaller dimensions that the original and a jelly roll pan won't even fit in the space. This is very disappointing. A turkey roaster will go in, but it will be cramped. The stove did not drop in the original space either, so I had to knock out the bottom panel of the opening space as well as cut and sand one of the sides of the opening for the stove to fit and slide in. I am disappointed that the inside of the stove is smaller than the original stove. I suppose this has to do with the new model being a self-cleaning oven. Personally, if I had known this, I would have bought a 30 inch and done a kitchen remodel. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

GE is the only manufacturer that offers a 27" electric range. Some of us plan small, efficient kitchens. Some of us are replacing 27" ranges. Ease of care and use, 3 color choices, the self-cleaning feature... The smaller size of the range does not mean fewer features and decor choices. An excellent choice from a reliable manufacturer. Thank you!

I purchased this a few months ago and so far I really like the range. One draw back is that I had to have it hard wired and wished that the rep who sold me the range had told me before I special ordered it.
