Is the microwave also a convection oven and is the 2699 price for both?
Asked by: Anonymous
Hello Lynn, Thank you for your inquiry on the GE Profile 30 in. Electric Convection Wall Oven with Built-In Microwave model # PT970DRBB. The configuration is all one unit offering the convection oven and the microwave on top. The price is for the entire wall oven/microwave. The microwave does not have the convection feature. Unit amperage

I have a 30 amp line for an electric dryer. Can I just change the recepticle and change this unit?
Asked by: Anonymous
Hello Lynn, Thank you for your question on the GE Profile Wall Oven with Built-In Microwave model # PT970DRBB. All built-in products (including this model) have conduit with the electrical leads attached to the range. The leads can then be connected right into the household wiring. We do not package the power cord with our electric range products. It is not possible to determine the type of facilities each consumer has available or what the local electrical codes require. Power Ratings: Amp Rating at 208V: 30 Amp Rating at 240V: 30 The Installation Instructions are available to view on the GE Appliance website. This may be helpful. Should you have any additional questions, please let us know. Donna with GE

Is there a way to shut off one of the two clocks?

There are two digital clocks in the control unit - the times they display never seem to agree and it's a bit annoying. Is there any way to shut one of them off?
Asked by: Hang4
Hello, Thank you for your question on the GE Profile Wall Oven with Built-In Microwave model PT970DRBB. The Clock for the microwave and oven are two separate controls. If you set the Clocks for both at the same time, the time should be the same. You would have to be fairly quick. The Lower oven does offer a Display On/Off feature. To turn the clock display on or off, press and hold the 0 pad for about 3 seconds. The Display On/Off feature cannot be used while a cooking feature is in use. This is on page 19 in the use and care manual. I hope this is helpful! Donna with GE

Stainless or Slate

I'm interested in finding this unit in the Slate finish. From what I have seen, All the Oven/Microwave Combinations have only 3 finish's (wht/blk/stainless) and none of them are Slate. Can a request be made to have this unit done in the Slate finish and if so, How would I go about requesting that. Or is it available elsewhere and I need to look at different retail outlet.
Asked by: AverageJoe
Hi AverageJoe-this is Sue from GE. We certainly appreciate your interest in our new appliances in slate. We do not have any immediate plans to offer a 30" Electric Convection Wall Oven with Built-In Microwave in slate. We do have plans to expand the slate product line in 2014 and encourage you to check the website frequently, as it is updated with new appliance information as products become available. Thanks for checking with us!

Profile 30 in. Electric Convection Wall Oven with Built-In Microwave in Black is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 30.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from 3.5 years later... The microwave has completely failed. During its short and lightly used life, it was usually inconsistent in heat levels; heating faster the more it was used at one time. The convection oven worked well, although the fan blades at times hit the louver in front of it, sounding like cards in the spoke of a bike wheel. At other times, it would jam completely. I bent the louver out a bit, now it works fine. Cannot believe this is what I get for $2,500.00

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very good unit This was our first convection oven and we have been very pleased. Takes a bit longer to preheat but cooks in less time and does so very evenly. Biggest positive is the ability to cook multiple dishes on several racks simultaneously. Microwave is huge compared to the countertop model it replaced. Only drawback would be the weight. Unit was heavier than the double oven it replaced so make sure you have adequate supports in the cabinet.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This product is a disappointment We purchased this product in 2007. The interior of the microwave is peeling up and bubbling. I have never seen a microwave do this? The self cleaning range receives a code G?? and shuts down when it is cleaning?. So I have to replace the the whole system at a cost again of $2,500.00.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Aweful product.... Yes, I was duped into buying this particular piece of expensive junk. It worked for about a year and when the warranty ran out that's when the problems started, display panel goes out, thermostats, fan, motherboard and heating elements. Seemed like every month something new went wrong with it. I got really tired of paying techs to come out and charge for service calls and the the parts and labor on top. The techs were just throwing parts at it and never fixed it. I just replaced it....Now, I use it as target practice. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this junk product....

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love the oven, but the magnetron went out after 4 years The oven is a real space-saver in my kitchen because I no longer have to use a countertop microwave. The touchpad is easy to use, the oven heats well, and I like having three racks instead of the usual two. Having convection helps me roast or bake a larger quantity at one time. Supposedly you don't have to rearrange the pans while using a convection oven, but I found that it isn't necessarily true. The top rack cooks faster because it's closer to the heat element, so I still move things around for more even cooking. My only complaint (and the reason for four stars in quality) is that the magnetron in the microwave failed after only four years. I previously had two other countertop microwave ovens that lasted for 10+ years each without having anything go wrong. The new magnetron cost me $400 including the service calls. Yikes!!! I hope it doesn't go out every four years...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy to install and use Once it was delivered, this unit was very easy to install. Once installed, the panel is intuitive. Haven't had to read the manual yet. I will have to when I try the convection function of the oven.
