Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Kathryn Love the power boil feature!
I have found it very easy to clean by simply making sure it is cold and spraying CLR on it, letting it sit for a few, then wiping up any spills with ease. Finish with a soapy paper towel and it is like brand new. The power boil feature is fantastic for this busy household. Cuts down on waiting time significantly. I would buy this cooktop if I had to do it all over again.

I've had this cooktop for about 4-5 years. It looked beautiful when new, but if you're a busy cook, cleaning it is a hassle. You have to clean up spills right away. Otherwise it becomes really difficult to clean. I've attached a picture of a "freshly" cleaned cooktop, using a specialized cleaner. It clearly takes more elbow grease than I wanted to use!
I rarely use the simmer burner and the super large "power boil" burner oddly takes forever to boil water for pasta. I also wish that the "power boil" burner was in the rear.
Also, if you're cooking for a large family you can really only use one large pan at a time. But, I guess, it's the best one can hope for given the dimensions of this cooktop.

This was well worth buying. We've had this cooktop for 5 years now and it looks as good as new. The glass is easy to clean and I've never had any issues with this cooktop. So for the one person that wrote that this top was eventually going to crack or break, 5 years strong and nothing. Do take care of this product with a nice cooktop glass cleaner every now and then. Use soap and water with a razor blade to get anything that might get stuck on the glass. My wife is Italian (from Italy born and raised) and when her mother and aunt come to town, there could be some heavy duty stains left behind from tomato sauce to everything else under the Tuscany Sun. No worries with this cooktop, after heavy duty Italian cooking, cleaning is still a breeze. This cooktop even survived a full kitchen remodel...

Beautiful looking but EXTREMELY difficult to clean. In fact I am very unhappy and called GE customer service. They sent a rep out and I explained how the top doesn't come clean and the rep said "oh I can fix that". He went to his truck and got a razor blade and proceeded to scrape some of the stains off. I am incredulous, does GE think people have time to stand in front of their cooktops with a razor blade scraping baked in stains. The rep also said "you should try and do this within 30 minutes of stain occurring". Are you kidding me?

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by cd94 Best Purchase ever as well as best and most responsive customer service
Easily assebled and installed. I replaced the builders original stove after 6 years and this one was far superior in every aspect - Fire's right up everytime, very evenly distributed heat, easy to clean, very sharp looking, etc...

This was an absolutely beautiful cooktop when it was installed. And it works great. But one day, for an unexplained reason, you'll find that the glass in this gas on glass cooktop is going to break...ours had two lines that cracked within two weeks of each other.
Then you're going to find that it costs $700 plus labor to replace it. No help from GE once you leave the warranty period.
So, I'm doing my duty to shoppers everywhere to say don't buy this one. Find another. This cooktop is like the guy your mother warned you about...stunningly handsome, but one day, he's going to leave you in the lurch.
Did I say find another choice?

Have had a few black glass topped cook tops in the past and wanted another one for my recent remodel. There are not many available. This was one of the few that came with gas. I find the black glass relatively easy to clean and it wears well as white tends to become dirty with age and use. Stainless has its own, separate issues. So, for me, this cooktop is great. It fits into my condo's kitchen really well and it's easy to use. My only reason for dropping a star is the burners are a bit slow to light. I had a previous GE gas cooktop/range/microwave oven combo that did the same thing so am not sure it's GE products or the gas line connection. Overall, I would recommend this product.
