Does the bottom oven operate on convection ONLY or can you switch from regular oven to convection?

Hello, This is Michelle with GE and I am happy to answer your question. The lower oven offers both convection and thermal/regular baking. Therefore, you can switch from regular to convection. Thank you for checking.

Model # PT925SNSS. Did you fix the problem with the "shorting entire oven" if something spilled. The review is copied this site to the details field.

Major Flaw December 30, 2010 jcmchris from Houston, TX This oven is great in that the double oven feature works great. It is a great idea with one major design flaw. All the controls (which are electronic) for the oven are in the top door, which has a row of slots along the top for ventilation and a slot on the bottom. If you spill anything on the oven door (like we did) and it runs into these slots you will short out the entire oven. Fortunately for us our oven was only three days old and GE covered the $600 repair. If you must buy this oven buy the maximum extended warranty available unless you never anticipate spilling anything on the top door.

is there a temp probe?

Does the lower oven have a temperature probe to alert the user that meat has reached a set temperature? Also, is there any way to see the temperatures of the ovens?
Asked by: CONYLI
Hello, This is Michelle with GE and I am happy to help. Yes, the lower oven on this model PT925SNSS does have a temperature probe. When the internal temperature of the food reaches the number you have set, the probe and the oven turn off and the oven control signals. Yes, the control display will show the oven temperatures. Thank you for checking.

My new GE 30" Prfile PT925 will not fit because of a gas fitting in the upper right back corner.

Is it possible to reduce the right rear upper corner of the over "box" by approximately 2' lower by 4" deep?? Would hate to return as looks like this oven will work great for us but for now it is sticking out 3.5" from sliding the rest of the way back into over slot. I am replacing a KitchenAid 30" over however the rear box of this oven is tapered down several inches and fits fine. Thanks

30 in. Single Electric Wall Oven Self-Cleaning with Convection in Stainless Steel is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 144.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great oven, but one major flaw... I absolutely love this oven. The only flaw is that the heating coils are fixed to the bottom of each chamber, and are NOT on a hinge. This makes it impossible to wipe or clean the bottom of the oven. Every oven I've ever had previous to this one has had the coils on a hinge to lift for cleaning. This oven cooks very well, but get used to having an icky, ash mess on the bottom because it is impossible to wipe clean.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great use of 2 ovens in 1 opening PROS: - Ideal for 1-6 family members for moderate to high amounts of cooking, requiring various oven functions, especially when space doesn't allow for 2 standard-size wall ovens. - Smaller (upper) oven is ideal for casseroles and re-heating food. - Larger (lower) oven comfortably accommodates a 13 lb. turkey. - More energy efficient than standard single or double-oven, because it's oven cavities are smaller, requiring less heat. - I've had mine for 5 years, and continues to work accurately CONS: - Difficult to read and confusing control panel. Be sure to have adequate overhead lighting to see controls. Pay close attention when operating controls, so as to not mistakenly operate some of the functions on the upper oven, if you meant to operate the lower oven... a common issue with my household. - Racks are a bit flimsy to slide, and hold heavier items like a 4-qt. cast-iron cocotte w/ lid (dutch oven). Racks tend to bend down and come in contact with the bottom heating element. - Height of larger (lower) oven cannot accommodate a stand-up chicken/hen for vertical roasting. Alternative would be to use this cooking method on an outdoor grill. - Self-cleaning function emits a strong gas, to the point our eyes and throats start burning, and therefore have to open doors and windows. Recommend self-clean ovens at different times. SUMMARY: If you're looking for efficient use of kitchen space, I highly recommend this oven. I wish we could order higher grade racks, that were more durable and slide easier.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great use of space I have always wanted two ovens and for me this unit works in the space I have. The larger oven can cook a 15 lb turkey thanks to the convection feature and being able to put pan on lowest shelf. My oven was not calibrated when installed and I found that I needed to add approx. 5 more minutes before using when preheating. Top oven is super useful for most everything and I use it all the time rather than heating up the bigger oven. It does have two racks but when rack on lowest level, it is a bit difficult to pull out so be sure to open door all the way and use the handles.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for Those who LOVE Baking! I found this single sized double oven appliance by accident. I loved the concept - two ovens in the space of one. Novel idea! Face it , only 4 - 5 times per year do I truly NEED a large size oven. Most of the time I am baking breads, casseroles, cookies, roasting veggies, etc. With this appliance, I only heat up half of the oven space. We have a separate 30 in oven mounted under our cooktop - so thanksgiving was very time efficient: turkey in the 30 in oven, while I proofed rolls and baked dressing and a pie all at the same time. The only con: I am still figuring out the placement for different types of baking... one oven is slightly larger than the other. Rack placement means racks slice the bottom oven into thirds; top oven in half. This will take some practice or experimenting to fine tune. So far, nothing has burned - everything has cooked evenly.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Double oven Fit the old oven spot perfect. Love the oven so far. Cook pizza perfectly every week in upper oven. Also upper oven does cupcakes and rolls great. Plan to do a turkey in lower oven soon. We are only 2 but will do about a 12-14 lb bird.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the versatility Have had this installed for a few months now and am very pleased. We mostly use the upper oven and have had no issues. It preheats quickly, and does not heat up the kitchen as much as a full-size oven.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great double oven for 2 I have been using this product since August (~5 months). They are smaller ovens, but it is just the two of us. It gives me 2 ovens, but does not take up a lot of space. It also has great features, proofing, time delay start, and a internal probe. I have not used the probe feature yet. The top oven is smaller and I usual will do things that fit in a shallow casserole dish, cookie sheet, cake pan, cupcake tins.... because they are smaller, you will have to rethink how you put multiple dishes in the oven at one time and for larger items you have to take out the rack in the lower oven, which going from 2 big wall oven s to this double oven does take getting used to. The few things that would be a good redesign is that the controls are on the door of the top oven. It is sometimes hard to read as they are not backlit, also a lot of steam comes out of the ovens when you open the door and it hits that control panel every time. I have not had a problem, but all that moisture hitting that seems bad. All in all if you are down sizing and you still want 2 ovens, it has been a great product to buy.
