Can the burner configuration be changed? 95% of all the ranges I'm interested in tout the "power burner" as ideal for boiling water, but place that/those burner(s) in front, which meant reaching OVER a pot of boiling water (or worse, oil) to use the other burners. If the configuration can't be changed, can someone at least explain to me the reasoning behind this design?
Asked by: Jeff
Hello Jeff - this is Nancy at GE Appliances and we're happy to help you. We're sorry; however, the range configuration cannot be changed. Since our appliances have been designed to meet specific requirements, we do not support altering or changing any aspect of the design. We certainly appreciate your comments and feedback regarding the power boil burner being on the front burners. Many factors go into the design of our products and consumer input is a top priority. Your comments are important to us and our product design division takes into account suggestions such as yours. Thanks again for sharing your comments and feedback.

The LP conversion kit is included with the purchase of this model. GE recommends that the conversion be performed by a qualified service technician or installer for the type of gas (natural or LP) that is to be used. I hope this information is helpful. Profile 4.1 cu. ft. Slide-In Gas Range with Self-Cleaning Convection Oven in Stainless Steel is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 26.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from DELICATE CONTROL PAD The oven is beutiful but the control panel is very sensitive...if I have the temperature set and something baking and reach to my top cabinet over the stove and barely rub onto the control panel, it shuts off the oven and deletes the temperature.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from POWERful burners, woohoo! Finally I am enjoying the results with my 12-inch wok. Turns out, it only wanted more heat. I've had the range installed for a few weeks now, & I want to stir fry all the time, it's so quick and everything is seared right. And I have not even used the right front power burner yet, just the large burner on the left front. When you crank it up, it is more than enough. I suppose the power burner is for 16-inch woks :) I am SO glad I got the model with the stainless top, not the glass one. Clean-up is not that bad, considering you WILL have little oil splatters all over the front, including on the touch glass display. I take a thick, damp cotton dishcloth, heat it in the microwave for 30 seconds or so, then just wipe it down; so far it cleans up easily. I have taken the heavy duty knobs off and washed them by hand, too, just to prove I could. That is a very nice feature, but you only need to do that if you have major spatters or a spill. I am concerned about the touch controls in that horizontal position for the long term, so am considering lining around the panel with some heavy duty electrical tape such as scotch super 88, to keep out any moisture & grease. I AM a messy cook, LOL! Take seriously the dimensions of the back area you will have for the gas and electric supply. Because of the way the back protrudes over that area, you will have just that small amount of space the instructions say, & no more. You will have to carefully coil the gas connector behind the storage drawer. The one star deducted is for the fact the weakest burner's lowest setting is still a tad too high for just keeping a small pot warm. You may need a heat diffuser with it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Almost perfect range I don't think I've ever had a better stove and love everything about it (temperature control, burner types and offset locations, oven quality, self cleaning function) except the display panel location/function. If you wipe it off you change oven and/or timer settings. If you lean over to stir a pot in the back and brush the panel you risk changing the oven settings. Imagine you have a cake or roast in the oven while cooking on the burners. You have a spill or splatter and you wipe it off. Suddenly your oven is turned off. If you notice it you're fine but if you don't there goes the cake. The lock-out function on my range only works when everything is off. This is a serious flaw in my estimation. Rated 5 out of 5 by from GE Profile Gas Oven After all we went through and accomplished with the horror of Hurricane Katrinba; I believe my selection of this gas oven, for cooking, cleanup and the positive control of cooking; is the very best of all of my choices in rebuilding. I tell peoplle how much I enjoy and it is well worth the money. Thank you GE Keep a good item Sandy

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Gas oven has a loud fan.... This overall is a wonderful oven. Heats up fast, strong top burners. BIG problem with the oven fan.... Since purchase in summer of 2012, the fan noise has been horrible. At first, we thought the fan noise was normal, however over time it got so loud that you could hear it 4 rooms over. Called GE and they hooked us up with a local repair shop. We had to have it replaced because apparently it was busted. That alone was annoying, when you spend money on a new item, you don't expect it to have issues. Even though the fan has been replaced, the noise continues. So, I am going to reach out to GE and see what else can be done. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great stove and so beautiful!! We are still getting used to the convection over but it so far so good!! Our meats and our (trial) turkey run came out wonderfully and so golden brown just about in half the time. The stove slides in between your cabinets so make sure you measure correctly. We had a problem with the gas line coming up from under the house. So a plummer had to be called to revise the gas line so our over could slide all the way back. For us, so far so great! We love it..our last one was also a GE but had see it's better days.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from So far, love this stove. Love the way it looks. Like the fact that the control panel is on the front of the stove so the top is flat w/o a back piece sticking up. The control panel is made well, better than all the other cheap ones we've seen. The control nobs are sturdy and well made, again, not like the other stoves we looked at that were light and cheap in quality. Like the storage beneath. 2 draw backs: the heavy duty grids on the top will scratch the bottom of your pans. Other draw back because the panel is located at the front, you sometimes hit it but it beeps to let you know you've hit something and it clears easily - just a matter of getting used to it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretty darn good I've had my range for a year now, and overall it's great; cooks well, the convection option is great for baking, the gas burners heat up nicely without spreading the heat too much (unlike my old gas stove, which put off enough burner heat to make the counters around it warm). Cleaning the top has a few issues - the grates are heavy, which I knew when I bought it, but use has shown they're a bit of a pain when it comes time to clean under them. Cleaning the control panel, as others have noted, will turn buttons on and off as you wipe, and if your cleaning rag is bigger than your hand, it'll turn the buttons on/off when you clean around the dials, too.
