Product Overview

Front load washing machines combine great cleaning results with water and energy savings. Using a reversing tumble wash action, a front load washer cleans clothing by gently lifting, then dropping the wash load back into the wash water solution. There is less friction on clothing, resulting in less wear on your fabrics. High-efficiency or “HE”-formulated detergent is recommended.

The installation techs connected the cable to both machines, but I didn't see anything regarding troubleshooting this issue in the manual.

Hello - this is Nancy at GE and I am happy to help you with regard to this very nice front load washer. The washer has a sanitize setting; however, we do not list a temperature. When selecting the sanitize wash temperature, the washer increases the water temperature to sanitize and kill more than 99% of many common bacteria found in home laundry. I hope this helps! Thanks for checking with us!

Answer:
Hello,
This is Michelle with GE and I am happy to help.
Your existing pedestal model SBSD137HWW will not work with this washer model PFWS4600LWW. This washer will only work with the SPSD157JWW or the SPBD880JWW model pedestals.
Thank you for checking.

Does the door on this washer open relatively wide?

My washer/dryer hookups require the washer to be on the right side. It is also somewhat narrow, therefore to access the dryer, with the door open, it'd need to open quite wide, nearly "Flat" to get past. Does this hinge support this?

Hello,
This is Michelle with GE and I am happy to help.
Yes, the door on this washer does open relatively wide. Although it does not open to a nearly "flat" position, it does go beyond a 90 degree opening.
Thanks for checking.

Customer Reviews

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Serious problems - GE terrible customer service Short story - Machine doesn't work right. Terrible customer service. Long story - I got 3 weeks out of this machine before it started malfunctioning. 3 times during every load it would just stop. The water would drain and the start button would flash. I had to press the start/pause button to get it to continue. I scheduled the next available service appointment which was 3 weeks out. The technician determined there was nothing wrong with the machine. He says I just have to run the tub cleaning cycle every few weeks to clean the sensors. Then he leaves without doing anything. I followed his instructions and nothing changed. I'm a teacher, and I didn't want to take any more days off for a service visit so I decided to live with it until Christmas break. The machine didn't make it. I pressed the pause button one time and the machine completely locked up. I can't even get my wet clothes out of it. The GE customer service rep told me that I probably broke the lock mechanism by pressing the pause button. She gave me the next available appointment which is a week and a half away and told me to make sure I have a check ready because the technicians don't take cash. I called Home Depot to see if they could do anything to help. The Home Depot rep told me that they won't do anything to help unless I purchased an extended warranty. So that's where I am now. I have completely broken washer that I bought less than 3 months ago filled with clothes that are getting rancid, and GE wants me to pay to get it looked at. December 8, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by LOVE this washer I am so happy with this washer after using it for a couple weeks now. It's quiet and I LOVE that it doesn't shake when spinning (the AVC works perfectly). The load size can be tiny to very large and it automatically adjusts the amount of water needed for each load. I preshrink LOTS of fabrics and this doesn't get them turned and twisted - and they dry faster now and come out less wrinkled. I feel it was a great value at the sale (closeout) price, less than any other site I checked out. It's easy to use without sitting down with the manual (I will still read it to see what other bells and whistles it has). The 2 delivery men were quick, efficient, courteous, and knowledgeable. Besides all these working features, it looks great. I would love to have the matching dryer at closeout price - except my current dryer is worker perfectly although it's too small for the larger washer loads (takes 2 dryer loads for one large wash load). Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Washer Been using for 3 years+ now, it's a fantastic washer. Never any problems, clothes have never been so clean! August 9, 2015
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Dead on Arrival The delivery man hooked up the machine and it powered up, so they left. Three minutes later it stopped and will not run on any cycle. I went to my local Home Depot for help and they said I had to call the (800) service center. I called the service center and got a message saying that "all of our representatives are busy, please call back". After several tries I got a human on the line. She said the first available appointment would be in three weeks. So, I bought a $1400 brand new washing machine that is defective and I have to wait three weeks for a service call??? I guess I'll be hauling our laundry to the laundry- mat for a while. I just hope the service person shows up and fixes that machine. October 28, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great washer and dryer, large capacity, clean and dry well Bought a pair of these GE profile washers and dryers and they both work fine. The washer and dryer have a feature when the washer finishes washing, it sends a signal to the dryer for the size and time to dry the laundry. The laundry comes out clean and dry. The washer and the dryer have many features that I haven't used them all yet. When spinning, it is not as quiet as the Samsung 4.0 one at my parent house but I think it much quieter than the traditional ones but it works well and it is fine with me. But if it is placed next to a room that needs to be quiet, someone may prefer a little bit quieter one. These washer and dryer are great especially at closeout sale price at Home Depot. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great price, great washer! If money were no object this is the washer I would have walked in to purchase....we got it for $648 which ended up being cheaper than the bottom of the line front loader! I use more settings that I ever thought I would just because they are available - and my clothes are cleaner because of it! There is a specialty cycle for each type of clothes, pet bedding, shoes, etc... that make the items come out cleaner than any washer I have ever had! Sooooo happy I bought this one! October 28, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by If You Can Judge a Book By Its Cover - Looks (Real) Good So far so (very) good. Honestly, it has more features than I need - I just want my clothes to be clean and it does the job well. For the (sale) price that I picked it up for (hundreds less than other sites) it definitely can not be beat. Right from when the two guys that delivered the machine (nice Job) everything has been great. Tried a few different types of loads - very user friendly - all went well. I will at some point have to sit down and read all of the user manuel to discover what else it might do i.e. self loading soap base cabinet - not cheap though. Would be nice to have a couple of youtube vids to assist to avoid technical reading. Anyways two weeks and a dozen loads later - I'm Happy. April 25, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Front load washer is performing well I've had this washer for about a month. So far, it has been great. It has replaced a top-loader, so I expected it to be an improvement. Compared to the top-loader it is quiet, seems to clean better, and leaves the clothes much more dry. Overall I'm very happy with it, especially because we got it on sale from Home Depot for half off. Home Depot delivery were great, and did the installation. October 21, 2014
