People were not used to high heat and burned rings into glass stove top. How do I clean to remove burns? Is my G.E. Profile slide in stove ruined for all time, or can it be cleaned to remove burns?

Answer:
It should have come with a sample of a smooth top cleaner. There are a few on the market, just use a grippy sponge with a little of the cream on it and work in small circles. I do this weekly. Make sure top is cool and not hot.

Hello,
This is Donna ith GE and I will be happy to address your concerns with cleaning radiant glass top
on the the GE Slide-In Electric Range model # PS905TPWW.
The white top will easily show scotch marks and burned on food after use. Cleaning after each use of the cooktop with cleaning cream will keep the cooktop looking new and easy to clean. Ceramic cooktop cleaning creams are the best.
CeramaBryte® (WX10X300 - 28 oz bottle) is the recommended cleaner. Scrub vigorously. Dry with a soft cloth. We also offer a three-piece kit Cerama Bryte Cooktop Cleaning Kit which includes Cerama Bryte cooktop cleaner, A Cerama Bryte cleaning pad and a scraper. Part # WX10X117GCS.
Burned spots and spills require special treatment. Please see the steps below. Use of sponges or cleaners other than those recommended can result in damage to the cooktop.
Heavy, Burned-On Residue:
* Allow the cooktop to cool.
* Spread a few drops of Cerama Bryte® over the entire burned-on area.
* Hold a razor scraper at approximately a 45º angle against the ceramic glass surface and scrape soil. It will be necessary to apply pressure to the razor scraper in order to remove the residue.
* Keep small amount of cream on the residue as you scrape.
* After scraping with razor scraper, use the scrub sponge to remove any remaining residue.
* For additional protection, after all residue has been removed, polish the entire surface with the Cerama Bryte® and a paper towel.
An overheated copper pot will leave a residue that will permanently stain the cooktop. If this occurs the top would need to be replaced.

Answer:
I know it fits behind the range, but why not the entire 311/4",so it matches the range from front to the wall rather than leave a narrower look where the filler fits???

I bought my GE wall oven in October 2011. Apparently this door design flaw affects all GE/Electrolux ovens - both glass top stoves and wall ovens!

Unlike the automotive industry, appliances do not have new model numbers every year.

Customer Reviews

Rated 3.9 out of 5 by 37 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Like my stove, with a couple of reservations I researched and read alot before purchasing the GE Profile slide-in range. One problem we noticed upon installation that was not mentioned in any of the reviews are the sides of the oven stick out and did not allow the range to slide all the way back to the back of the wall. So we had to purchase a plate to put on the back to cover the hole left. Not the most professional look. My other complaint is it seems to take along time for the oven to cool off so the fan runs a long time after the oven is turned off - somtimes I open the door to speed up the process, but that warms up the room. I do love the features offered on this model, delay and timed bake. 3 ring burner is nice. April 17, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful stove, great performance, some effort to keep clean. I bought this stove about 2 months ago. It really looks sharp. I've had several cooktops before and this one heats up faster. The oven also works well. I have no complaints about the stove's performance. Since I've had cooktops before, I was not concerned about keeping the stove top clean, but I must say that this stove top is high maintenance. I clean it every time I use it. The shiny black ceramic top looks gorgeous, but every drop shows. The front controls are always getting splattered so must be cleaned daily. I've found that stainless steel cleaner easily cleans them. To sum up...dramatic appearance, excellent performance, but requires some effort to keep clean, which is why I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars. June 18, 2012
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by DON'T BUY THIS RANGE!!! The stove top requires cleaning several times a day. A special cleaner is required followed by buffing with paper towels which get caught in the metal trim...more time spent knifing it out :/ The oven beeps and says it is preheated to 350 degrees when it is only 100 degrees and still preheating. I am a baker and this has resulted in ruined pastries and casseroles that have taken more than double the time with unappetizing results...not to mention company waiting endlessly! I've never had an electric range that has been such nightmare!! BUYER BEWARE!! July 19, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Replaced a 35+ year old stove top and so far all is great! Only used oven twice so far and stove top has been used 6 times. Does take a little while to clean stove top, but at least I don't have to worry about drip pans anymore. Ceramabrite cleaner that came with stove works well. Also used Windex for easy quick cleaning. Does seem to help if you wipe up spatters during cooking process with a damp washcloth. I am having some issues with streaks on stainless portions of unit, but will have to find what cleaning method works best by trial and error. Oven heated up quickly and baked evenly. Stove top is SO MUCH hotter and faster than my old unit. Boiled a large pot of water for pasta in 10 minutes would have taken 30 minutes on old stovetop. Now I just have to make sure not to burn food. So far LOVE this unit. February 7, 2011
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Looks Are Deceiving Have only used the cooktop so far and I feel like my new job is appliance cleaning lady. The shiny black top shows everything and the cheap plastic "decorative" strip under the hard to clean stainless area where the knobs are located; very unattractive. If you aren't going to use this appliance, great choice. Please don't spill anything major on the top because you'll be up all night cleaning. Can't wait until we try the oven - NOT. September 11, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love it!!! I can't believe how easy it was to order and purchase online. The delivery was quick and fast. I love my new range, especially the bridge feature for cooking breakfast, a pound of bacon all at once and everything else. The burners heat up so fast and the feature for the smaller burner is energy efficient. Would recommend with flying colors...Home Depot's service online and this product. April 17, 2012
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Flawed door design! BUYERS BEWARE.! There is a design flaw with the Ge /Electrolux wall ovens/ glass top stoves. The doors of these ovens should have a metal flange across the top of the glass door front in order to prevent spills from leaking down inside the glass door front - leaving you with unsightly drips which can only be removed if you take the oven door off, and apart to clean. Interestingly enough, this problem appears to occur frequently enough, that Sears will no longer cover this problem under their warranties. Instead of having GE correct this problem, Sears takes the position that this problem ‘is cosmetic’ – basically your problem and will merely charge you approximately $150. to come out; remove the door; take it apart and clean it – each and every time the problem re-occurs!!! Even GE Corporate Relations acknowledges that this will occur. One of th GE Corporate Relations Representatives readily suggested ‘ a cleaning solution that may, or may not work’! So GE is fully aware of this design flaw. January 3, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice unit Bought this range during a kitchen remodel. I had to order the unit so I was not able to see what it looked like until it was delivered. My wife loves the range. Performs like advertised and looks great against our granite counter top. My Home Depot does not install slide in glass top ranges but I planned install it myself. Installing my old power cable was very simple but I did have to make a run to buy a 3/4 inch cable clamp used for metal boxes. Making the height adjustments was a piece of cake when you follow installation instructions. Took less than 10 minutes to install. Still not sure why Home Depot doesn't install slide in range.
