The induction range will fit in a standard thirty (30") opening that most ranges fit.

How much noise does it make?

Reviews of other induction ranges have indicated that some ranges have a loud fan or sometimes ping (not sure why), and owners were somewhat annoyed by the noise. Can anyone let me know if this range has a loud fan (say, louder than your microwave)? does it ping?
Asked by: babs
There is some vibration from the cooktop when using higher power levels that is audible - but I don't find it at all objectionable. There is nothing unusual about the other noise the range makes. A fan comes on when using the oven, but it is not very loud - quieter than our microwave.

It looks beautiful and the induction cooktop works fine. However, every time we have tried to use the oven, selecting temperature and cooking time, it will not turn off automatically, and the oven remains on even when we touch the cancel sensor. We have to use the circuit breaker to turn off the oven! A technician has been scheduled to look into the problem but we have to wait a week. It seems ridiculous for a new appliance to have this problem and so disappointing.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well Built Induction Range I did some extensive research before purchasing this range, as all induction ranges are rather expensive. This one seemed to have all the features I needed, without a lot of extras I would never use. I was not disappointed - it works great while being simple to use. Several features that distinguished it from others: the heat settings on the range go in half steps from 1 to 10, so it is easy to get a setting with just the right heat. The controls are a glass panel that are touch operated, making the control area easy to clean an very accessible. The oven has 7 positions for racks, and it comes with an "extension" rack that I find convenient - it pulls out much easier than the normal friction racks that are standard on most ovens. The oven seems to be fairly accurate in temperature, and also fairly uniform. Also, common to all induction ranges, the cooktop heats extremely fast, and since the cooktop does not get hot (only as hot as the pan) spills do not get baked in, so the cooktop is very easy to clean. Some things to be aware of: The lowest setting for the oven is 170 deg. F, so you can't use the oven for proofing bread - at least not directly. The warming drawer is also too hot for this as well. The range seems to be designed to push up against a wall. I am using it in an island, and there is no simple way get the rear of the cooktop to blend in with the island surface - it looks a bit unfinished, but is not a serious issue for us, and a clever installer might be able to add some trim material to cover the gap that shows at the rear of the cooktop. The main weak areas for this range: The warming drawer is a bit flimsy in that it just feels like it is made of too thin sheet metal - in stark contrast to rest of the range which feels very solid. The oven also hits you with a blast of hot air when you open it, and I am not sure why this is worse with this oven than other ovens. I never noticed this with my previous Jenn-Air oven. You quickly learn to avoid standing over the oven when opening the door. Common to all induction ranges, you also should be aware that the cooktop does not spread heat at all, and all burden for spreading heat is placed on the pan. So if you place a rectangular griddle designed to span two burners, it will work, but the heat will be very uneven - being hot right under the induction elements, but the heat will fall off quickly as you move away from the areas directly under the elements. Unlike a gas cooktop, there is no convection heating, and with a conventional electric smooth cooktop, there is some convection and conduction heating of the cooktop that helps with spreading heat beyond just the burner. Not so with induction.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome features This is my first induction oven and I love it. I had wanted gas but the cost of adding in the gas line was too prohibitive so if I didn't get gas, so I wanted to try the induction range. Pluses: great stovetop cooking. It heats quickly and does not retain the heat once you turn off the stove. Cooking has more finesse than the typical electric range top. I love the feature in this model, the glass top extends past the side of the range so it sits on your counter top. It provides a clean look and the food does not run down the side of the range where you can't clean it. Cons: you need pots and pans with metal that has strong magnetic qualities. I had to buy new pots and pans (which i love) but you need to factor that in with your costs.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Induction marvelous I thought long and hard about this purchase because of the new technology, then decided to purchase the Induction. I love it and all my new pots and pans. I learned a new way to cook and bake.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from THE GOOD NEWS AND THE BAD NEWS The Good News and the Bad News Two days ago, my wife and I had the GE PHS920SF2SS induction electric slide in range installed in our home. It's beautiful! We have not had a range in over a month. The reason for the long wait, we couldn't decide between a competing manufacturer's electric induction slide in range and the GE electric induction slide in range. We picked the GE based on the availability of GE's authorized repair service in our area and GE's reputation for reliability. The competing manufacturer's authorized repair company would have to travel over 100 miles one way from Columbia, SC to Charleston, SC for repairs. GE has local authorized repair technicians in Charleston. However, we didn't think we would need GE's repair service so soon. We boiled several pots of water just to test the power boil burner. It worked great. Then, we decided to bake some biscuits. That's when we realized the "door lock" light for the oven was on and would not shut off whether the oven door was open or closed. The door lock light code prevents the operation of the oven even though the oven door is not really locked. We read the manual back to front for troubling shooting tips and googled for more troubleshooting help. We tried everything. Nothing worked. So now, we have a GE repair technician coming to our home only 3 days after the range was installed. The good news: we don't have to wait 2 weeks for a competitor's authorized repair technician. The bad news: The GE PHS920SF2SS went down only 4 hours after installation. Update: It's been 4 days since my review above. GE repair technicians have twice attempted to repair our new range. The oven continues to malfunction. No biscuits yet!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great stove Takes getting used to induction because its so fast. Dont-take-your-eyes-off- it fast. Magnetic pans from Costco great, doubt that heavy pans needed for even heating because induction heats whole surface of pan hot spots. Higher settings only really used for boiling water as even 8 (of 10) can burn meat being browned. Control response time faster than gas. Clean up much easier as nothing burns on glass cooktop! Flat sceen controls annoying but work fine. Oven is great, as it should be. Warming drawer great to store stuff... and top warming spot good for warming plates too.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Induction is the way to go This is a great range. The induction stovetop is incredibly efficient; I brought a large pot of water (about 2 gallons) to a boil in under 3 minutes. Plus, reduce the "heat" setting and the boil stops within seconds. It's nice to have the controls up front, and the controls are very responsive. This is the best stovetop I've ever used. The finish and build of the range seem to be of high quality. My only complaint is that GE doesn't offer a backsplash attachment (which a German competitor does), so now there's a blank space behind the range.
