Customer Questions & Answers

Can this model be outfitted with exhaust system?

Asked by: gillbilly
Hello - this is Nancy at GE and I am happy to help you. This is a beautiful 30" Profile Gas Double Oven Convection Range. The oven vents through the center of the backsplash and through the top of the oven doors. You do not have to have a separate exhaust system; however, if you would like to install a vent hood or an over-the-range microwave with exhaust over this range, it would be perfectly acceptable to do so. I hope this helps! Thanks for checking with us!

What is the difference(s) between PGB995SETSS and the JGB870SETSS besides the price?

Asked by: Anonymous
The 995 has a heavy duty cast iron griddle included, a higher output center oval burner, and to me the color combination just looked more stylish.

center knob will not work on griddle/grill

it won't turn, can't figure out how to open the top to see why!
Asked by: Pasadena
Hi Pasadena-this is Sue from GE Appliances. We apologize for any inconvenience and glad to offer assistance. You may want to remove and reinstall the knob. Make sure the knob is in the Off position and pull straight off the stem. Replace the knob in the Off position to ensure proper placement. For details, see page 33 of the owner's included with the range or online: further assistance, we encourage you to contact GE Consumer Service at 1-800-432-2737. Thanks for reaching out to us!

Customer Reviews

Profile 6.7 cu. ft. Double Oven Gas Range with Self-Cleaning Convection Oven in Stainless Steel is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 46.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great features, disappointed in manufacturers design flaw We purchased this double oven in Nov, 2012 and it has been working great. Love the large capacity of the ovens and the grates across the full surface of the stove top. However, when opening and closing the top oven, the door scraps against the heat shield above the oven door. Recently, the top oven door would not close without force when heated. The service tech informed that this is a manufacturer's defect and the 'manifold eyebrow dips were there are no screws' causing the scrapping and expansion of the heat shield when oven is hot causing the top door to not close well. I am very disappointed with this design flaw in a GE product. And not sure of the long term effect of this issue.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great gas range, small problem with enamel paint The stainless steel range looks great. I love the double oven. Thanksgiving is this week, so I will try both ovens at once. The convection oven bakes very evenly and faster than my old oven. I like the slide-out oven rack. The top burners heat very quickly. The cast-iron griddle is very sturdy, though I haven't tried this feature yet. I love the burner arrangement and big area on the range top. I do have a problem with enamel paint peeling on the range top near one burner. It looks like paint blistered from the heat of the burner. This is unacceptable for a range that should last 20 years.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Looks Great, nice features, will it last? Looks: I got the model in white. I love how it looks. I really like the heavy grates that span the whole surface. Its much bigger to put all your pots/pans on after cooking in the oven. The back panel with the touch screen is quite big, in my opinion. I have to adjust myself to looking at it since my old one did not have electrical touch screen taking up that space. Features: The top oven pre-heats about 20 minutes faster than the bottom...good to make something that requires only one rack a little faster. I like the power does boil things way faster than my old one. I like the heavy cast iron gridle you can put in the middle instead of the middle grates. It is too small for anything large for example, I couldn't see cooking breakfast for more than two people on that unless you eat in shifts. I did use it to do garlic toast on while cooking pasta and that worked. Also, love the sliding rack in the bottom much easier. I spent extra to get this model with convection, heavy grates, and the meat probe. I haven't used the meat probe yet, but did use the convection. It is a fan vs another element. The fan does not come on until the desired temperature is reached. Other notes: When the delivery people came I made sure to make sure there was no dents but unfortunatly I didn't notice a small chip above the left side burner dial the one that says "FRONT". They package it with cardboard stuck where you can lift the very top off. My guess is someone at the factory used something to pry it up to insert the cardboard. I unfortunately signed off and the delivery guys left before I noticed lesson learned...remove all the pieces of cardboard even the ones by the knobs no matter how much time it takes. I also purchased above oven microwave and my breaker will not handle the oven and the microwave at the same time. The oven is gas but it still uses electricity for the controls. Husband says he can fix it by getting a heavier duty breaker. I like my new oven way way better than my old gas oven that was a bare bones oven but I have to wonder with all the electic gadgets and extra features if it will last as long. Bought the extended warranty just in case.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from upper oven uneven heat. The range top works fine as does the lower oven. The upper oven, however, has very inconsistant heat and is not reliable enough to use for baking breads, cakes, cookies. Ge actually replaced our original unit with another but the same problem persisted. If we had known this issue we would have gotten a standard oven. Our reason for buying this model was to use the smaller upper oven as our primary oven. The lower oven on this unit is hard to use as the primary oven and it is much less handy as it's so much lower to the floor. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I love my new Range & Double Oven I just finished my kitchen remodel last month and I love, love, love my new appliances. The double oven is awesome and allows me to cook a pizza for the kids while cooking a pot roast at another temperature for later. If I only use the top, it doesn't heat up my whole kitchen - I can't wait until Thanksgiving!! The burners are heavy cast iron and heat up super fast! The express boiling water setting is great for getting the job done quickly. And the center burner is a must have for pancakes and grill cheese sandwiches. I don't know how I ever cooked before. One thing I have noticed is that the handles on my pots and pans heat up so I have to get better at grabbing those potholders! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor Quaility for the Money I liked the idea of the double oven and the over all look of this oven but what a mistake. I have used the top oven twice and both times the metal on the oven door expanded when hot to the extent that I could not even close the door. Everything about it feels cheap. This is the first new oven I have ever purchased and was so excited and now am very disappointed. What does the future hold for this product? My old stove was 10 years old and I have never had to have it serviced.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really nice stove Burner configuration is great. Convection oven bakes beautifully.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This stove offers the features of more expensive appliances at a great price. On the stovetop, I absolutely love the power boil; it really makes a huge differene in the amount of time it takes to cook things. The simmer option is wonderful for melting butter and making Roux's. The smaller upper oven has been the perfect size to make pizzas, casseroles, broiling nachos, warming tortillas, baking potatoes, and acts as the perfect warming drawer. It's great not having to heat an entire oven to do theses things. I love having the convection oven low so I can lift heavier things like turkeys and hams out and up versus having to bring big hot heavy pans toward me from above. There are options to choose from such as the Sabbath mode with this oven; you just have to choose it. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
