The fan kicks on by itself when it needs to while your using it and it is LOUD!! We're talking annoyingly, can't hear your guests, sounds like a jet with the high pitch and whirrrr, LOUD!!! And you CAN NOT turn it off when its kicked on by itself. Nope, not even if you stop cooking. Mind you, you can turn it on yourself if you feel you need it and then you can shut it off when you want. However, if it senses the need to be turned on - you are stuck with it. Other than that it works fine.

THIS OVER/MICRO IS MUCH IMPROVED OVER THE MODEL THAT WE INITIALLY INSTALLED IN 2001. WE HAVE HAD THIS UNIT ONLY A FEW WEEKS BUT, I CAN TELL IT HAS HAD SOME OF THE PROBLEMS RESOLVED.

Rated 3 out of 5Â by BryanN I Hope GE improved the quality.
I bought this oven in 2009 because we thoroughly loved the wall unit Advantium we had in a previous home. This over-the-cooktop model has not performed as well.
First thing we noticed was the cooking menu had been reduced from the previous model we owned. Then, soon after we bought it, the door became very difficult to open. And the micro-switch that senses the door is closed continues to fail...so the oven doesn't work.
GE has replaced the failed microswitch but can do nothing about the very poor, and cheap, design of the door latch. You better get in shape for this one. You have to aggressively jerk on the handle to get it to open.
I would only purchase this oven again if the door latch problem was resolved.

I read what those who had problems with their Trivection Oven Microwave, I think they forgot to do "routine matainance" like "cleaning the inside of the oven" or put metal, even if it was by accident, into the oven. Carbon, from burnt food; wife was cooking and corn syurp boiled, splattered and walla, lighting in the microwave. I was called to solve this phenomenon, resident ElectronIic Engineer. Found the carbonized demon and exorsized it.. Building a new house and would you believe it; G.E. quit making the double trivection wall ovens! In short, if you buy our house, you'll need a double oven to fit in the hole, WE ARE NOT LEAVING OUR TRIVECTION OVENS!

Rated 5 out of 5 Fun Appliance
I bought this oven when remodeling a kitchen for the convection oven feature, so that I would have that "extra" oven for those times when a single oven isn't sufficient. We do primarily use this as a microwave, but the speed cook and convection oven features are great to have. All the features are great and it's been fun learning to use this new appliance. I understand this oven is no longer being manufactured, but if GE has another similar appliance, I would highly recommend.
