I bought this oven in 2009 because we thoroughly loved the wall unit Advantium we had in a previous home. This over-the-cooktop model has not performed as well.
First thing we noticed was the cooking menu had been reduced from the previous model we owned. Then, soon after we bought it, the door became very difficult to open. And the micro-switch that senses the door is closed continues to fail...so the oven doesn't work.
GE has replaced the failed microswitch but can do nothing about the very poor, and cheap, design of the door latch. You better get in shape for this one. You have to aggressively jerk on the handle to get it to open.
I would only purchase this oven again if the door latch problem was resolved.

I purchased this Speedcooking Oven to replace a very old over the stove microwave oven. I did have to install a 220 volt receptical, but the investment was well worth it. This oven is a tribute to technology. My family uses is far more than we do the "traditional oven". In short, it is easier to use, more convenient, and cooks in far less time than our traditional oven. I would highly reccomend that anyone interested in upgrading their old over the counter / stove microwave, take a very serious look at this product. I have zero regrets. The fan kicks on by itself when it needs to while your using it and it is LOUD!! We're talking annoyingly, can't hear your guests, sounds like a jet with the high pitch and whirrrr, LOUD!!! And you CAN NOT turn it off when its kicked on by itself. Nope, not even if you stop cooking. Mind you, you can turn it on yourself if you feel you need it and then you can shut it off when you want. However, if it senses the need to be turned on - you are stuck with it. Other than that it works fine.

I love the two shelves in this micro as it gives me versatility to heat three platefuls of food at a time--great for leftovers. I haven't had burnt popcorn yet from this micro, and the quick timer features save my busy fingers from hitting power, time, and start buttons. In all, I am most satisfied with my GE cooking replacements. I only wish I had purchased a GE refrigerator at the same time instead of buying from a competitor. It's amazing what you can do with this thing. A frozen pot pie takes 45 minutes in the oven, or 7 minutes in the microwave but with a soggy crust. It's 6 minutes in this thing to a golden brown and crispy crust. One short on baked potatoes? 4 minutes and you have a crispy skin with a light, fluffy center. It's an amazing time saver, and doesn't produce that microwave-like soggy food you get from a regular microwave. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I am still finding features on this wonderful Oven...it is amazing at what it will do for us!
After checking the menu that is built in, I found everything that I could have wanted right on the oven.

THIS OVER/MICRO IS MUCH IMPROVED OVER THE MODEL THAT WE INITIALLY INSTALLED IN 2001. WE HAVE HAD THIS UNIT ONLY A FEW WEEKS BUT, I CAN TELL IT HAS HAD SOME OF THE PROBLEMS RESOLVED.
