Questions & Answers

Can this be installed under countertops?

I am planning to get this oven. Below, it says "YES" for under the counter installation, but the installation guide indicates that there is a personal safety risk. I would really prefer the 240 v model over the 120 v (which is clearly approved for under the counter installation) but I want to make sure that it is doable before I choose this item.
Asked by: Kitchen12345
GE says it voids the warranty, but we have had ours under the counter for years with no problem. Just don't stick your head right above the door when you open it.

Can this replace the scb2001fss02 in dimensions? Both seem to be 30 inch, but their capacities are different, 1.2 for the scb2000fss02
Asked by: Raja
Hi Raja- We certainly appreciate your loyalty! Previous Advantium wall ovens (SCB2000, SCB2001) used a larger cut-out opening. Some cabinet work will need to be done for the width. For the height difference, we offer the storage drawer JX2201NSS. This allows for retrofit into previous 240V Advantium (SCB2000/1) wall oven cutout. See page 8 of the Installation Instructions for cabinet cutout requirements: http://www.homedepot.com/catalog/pdfImages/40/405261aa-3d8d-4f09-8532-7a11d8c0654c.pdf - Keep in touch! SUE@GEA

Advantium 30 in. Electric Wall Oven with Speed Cook and Convection in Stainless Steel is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 80.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it!! Installed this in my butler's pantry as a supplemental oven and our primary microwave. I absolutely love it. Cookies and brownies cooked in the convection feature come out perfectly and the sensor for the microwaved frozen vegetables, popcorn and reheat all work beautifully. The delayed time bake feature is also great for casseroles, especially since my primary oven doesn't have a time bake feature.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Advantium Mircowave oven This is my second Advantium and I love it. I'm still experimenting with some of the features. My one complaint is that I cannot reach the back of the oven around the convection fan to clean it. The inside of the oven appears twice as large as my original that lasted 15 years.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Steep learning curve Working on adapting my recipes and times/temperatures.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Misleading specifications The reason I gave the value only a fair is because the specifications on the home depot site says that the height is 19 1/32". This is not true. The height is 17' and is only 19 1/32 if you purchase the extra accessory drawer from GE for over $461.00. We had an advantium which gave out so I ordered this new one to replace it. With it saying the height is 19 1/32", I knew it would fit in the hole but was surprised when it arrived and was too short. After opening the installation guide, I found out that I would have to order the accessory drawer at an extra cost. This is very misleading and, as such, should give height for both the wall oven and the wall oven plus accessory drawer. Otherwise, I love the advantium oven.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Love the oven but it needs a few refinements. First let me say I love the Advantium 240V oven features, cooking speed and quality. That said, I would not recommend buying an Advantium 240V wall oven until they straighten out their design issues. This is a high end appliance installed in our custom cabinets and the oven blows large quantities of hot, very moist, air out all over the cabinets from around the door, this then causes condensation which causes the cabinet finish to turn white and become gummy. GE replaced the first oven, however, the second oven has the same issue. The oven interior cabinet does not seal to the door and there is no gasket to help the seal. Their Service Tech agreed that the oven was manufactured on a twist and the door can't seal.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Love it but it has one problem.... We purchased our Advantium oven about 9 months ago. We have loved the speed cook and the microwave feature. We entertain frequently so the speed cook has been wonderful for baked potatoes, roasts, lamb shoulders, whole chickens, etc. The meat is cooked to perfection with the inside juicy and the skin very crisp. Unfortunately there is one problem - steam comes out of the oven on the left side and has affected the finish on our cabinets in that area. We have had it serviced but the problem still exists. As far as the quality and performance of the oven we are extremely pleased but are disappointed in the steam issue.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from GE Advantium 240v ovens ROCK! I am now on my second 240v. Advantium oven because I simply can't live without one! Back in 2000, I bought one of the first Advantiums being sold and it was a 240v. over the cooktop unit. In TEN YEARS of daily use, it didn't even have a light bulb burn out. My then-teenage son used the Advantium *constantly*, but even he couldn't damage the 'bullet-proof' Advantium. When I moved in 2010, I bought a 240v. Advantium 30 in. wall oven which I use many times a day and it's PERFECT.  Just like the previous Advantium, NOTHING breaks on it in spite of constant use. Yes, there's some smoke and mess if you're cooking sausages without any cover, but it's otherwise EXCEPTIONAL. I just bought my THIRD Advantium 240v. oven to install downstairs in the rec room.  The 110v. Advantium units are NOT the same and I don't recommend them due to reliability issues and slower cooking.  Seriously, I tell everyone to BUY an Advantium 240v. oven and they'll never regret it!   I've professionally designed many 'upscale' kitchens and GE appliances are MUCH more reliable than the "designer brands".  For my own kitchens, I buy GE!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Would not recommend I bought the Advantium in May and in June it was making a funny noise. Called service and tech came out and replaced the fan. Within one week of that repair now the control board and several other parts need to be replaced. Unable to use appliance in 4 months.
