Electric cooktops typically take a 20 amp circuit but can go as high as 40 amps. Please check the individual specs for specifics. Fuses/breakers are required for the our consumer’s safety! Over-sizing the fuse/breaker can prevent it from tripping when it logically should. This could prevent the warning of a problem and could result in serious electric shock. A dedicated circuit is recommended. I hope this helps! Thanks for checking with us! Read Less

Isn't the 12" burner a bit large to be very useful. My large pots and skillets are 9 or 10 inches at the bottom. Thanks.

Answer:
Hello,
This is Lisa from GE. The right front burner can be used as a 9 inch or 12 inch burner. You have the option to use either. The 12 inch can be used for 12 inch frying pans, large stock pots, canners, etc. I hope this helps. Thanks for checking!

CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 4.4 out of 5 by 35 reviewers.
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love it! So far I love my new cooktop. Heats very quickly and evenly. Looks great. Ordered online and arrived at my door in just a few days. February 12, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good, efficient cooktop I bought this cooktop about a month ago. It was very simple and easy to install and hook up. It heats very well. I'm not crazy about it being solid, shiny black. Every smudge shows! I'd have preferred a mottled finish. The instructions tell you that the red light will stay on until the cooktop cools down to about 150 degrees then it will go off. I think the red light should stay on a lot longer. At 150 degrees, the cooktop is still WAY too hot to accidently touch it or set something on it. But, I'm getting used to it. I do like it better than my old coil stove, but it's not as easy to clean as I had hoped. You really have to scrub (with approved sponge and cleaner) to get the marks off. August 24, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love it! Love this stove top! Easy to clean! Last one broke so be careful with frozen food landing on it! November 29, 2011
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Looks good, but... Bought this to replace an old 30" cooktop that died. While the features sounded good in the store- powerboil, an element that can be used as 9" or 12", etc. I never really looked at the burner arrangement while thinking how cooking is actually done. For example, the only use I have for a 12" element is making stew or pasta sauce, and in neither case do I need or want that element in front. Those don't need constant attention, and the front location makes some of the other elements inaccessible. Also, the small elements don't seem to heat as quickly as the previous cooktop. Plus, the indicator lights are wired wrong- the light for the right front element lights up when the right rear element is hot, and vice versa. October 6, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Solid Cooktop Replaced my broken cooktop with this one. I stepped down in price from my original one because I really want a new kitchen but have to wait. This one seems to work fine - heats quickly and good combination of heating areas. Purchased the bisque color and it does require ceramic cooktop cleaner after each use but I don't find that as a negative - I'm going to clean it anyway. I like the clean look of the lighter color as it matches my countertop. Easy to install - just popped it in the existing cutout and wired it up. January 9, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by GE Profile Series Always wanted one like this! Love the attention of it being hot yet after the pot is removed. May 27, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by OUTSTANDING! Just what I wanted in a cook top! It arrived in a timely fashion and inperfect condition. THANK YOU August 5, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good Not Perfect I replaced an older GE electric cooktop with this one. Installation was easy. This new cooktop generally works well - heating comes on quickly. The large burner on the bottom right corner supposedly allows you to choose between a small and a larger radius of heat by moving a switch; however on mine, the switch doesn't work and only the inner radius functions. Also it is not that easy to clean and only the "special cleaner" that comes with the unit seems to do a good job of cleaning the glass top. May 8, 2012
