Hello - this is Nancy at GE and I am happy to help you. This 36" cooktop requires a 33-7/8" wide countertop cutout. It also requires a minimum 2" clearance to the side wall from the cutout on each end of the cooktop. I hope this helps! Thanks for checking with us!

First, this cooktop is a radiant cooktop, not an induction cooktop. For induction cooktops, in order to create the magnetic field and heat the cookware, the bottom of the cookware must have some iron content. Compatible cookware for induction cooktops should be made of magnetic stainless steel, cast iron (works well but may scratch the glass unless it is porcelain coated), enameled steel or a combination of these materials.
For best results, use a pan that matches the element size. Pans should have a flat bottom and be at least 5 inches across the bottom. Cookware larger than the element ring may be used; however, heat will only occur above the element.
Please note that there are many types of cookware that cannot be used on the induction: Aluminum or aluminum clad, copper or copper clad, aluminum foil, glass/ceramic and some stainless steel products (because these will not attract and hold a magnet).

Hello - This is Nancy at GE and I am happy to help you.
When using the bridge burner, you should choose a pan that matches the circle/bridge area as closely as possible. The bridge burner is used in conjunction with the left front surface burner. You can use the left front surface burner and the bridge burner together as long as the pan matches the area.

Rated 4.4 out of 5 by 70 reviewers.
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Substandard GE Product Despite using non abrasive cleaners, the dial indicators, being decals, easily rubbed off rendering the cooktop useless and it became a guessing game. When discussing this with GE Customer Service, we were told to buy another cooktop - that there was nothing they would do. So we did just that. But never another GE product. Be careful. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not Ready to Comment! The cook top was installed two weeks ago and has two disfunctional elements, one that is not working at all and the other that is not working properly. The first one is the "bridge" between the left front and left rear elements that is burned out and has not been fixed as yet by the GE Tech. and a second part where the right front outside ring comes on when the right front center element is turned on high. So I will give an evaluation once the unit is completely fixed and working properly.. December 13, 2011
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good cooktop but difficult to keep clean and all cookware must have a flat bottom. This cooktop heats efficiently and looks great, but even a splash of water from a pot makes a mess. I like the variety of burners and love the two that connect for large roasting pans. You do have to make sure that all cookware has completely flat bottoms or heating willl take forever. Overall, its a good electric cooktop, December 28, 2011
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by This Cooktop looks great and installs easy. So far, no issues with this cooktop range. Looks great, works great. I like that it has the super large burner ring that you can turn on/off as well as a safety switch. Cleans up easy. Connect three wires and your done. Stainless knobs and trim is worth the extra if you're on the fence...go for it. January 22, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Beautiful Clean Look, heats rapidly The stove-top went installed easily once I lined someone up who could make small adjustments on the existing hole to drop it in. Beautiful stove top, clean lines, heats up very very fast. Excited about many years of great cooking ahead. March 3, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by None Better! perfect addition to a remodeled kitchen in our home February 17, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Pleased! I have been extremely pleased with not only the look, but the function of this cooktop. I replaced a Jenn Air and couldn't be happier. I really like the fact that the "burners" give you options of pan sizes and they also regulate the heat to maintain the constant temperature you set. January 10, 2011
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Love the sleek look. The sleekness looks great on the granite counters. Love the stainless steel buttons and trim. January 26, 2016
