Why are the replacement filters sold with two units, when the filter uses three units? Thank you, Lucy

RE: GE Twist & Lock RO Replacement Filter Set Model #FQROPF Question: Why are the replacement filters sold in units of two, when the GE water filter system uses three units? Thank you, Lucy
Asked by: Anonymous
This item is for the carbon pre- and post- filters, that fit in the #1 and #3 locations of the water purifier body. The middle cartridge is the reverse osmosis unit, and must be purchased separately. Typically, you will change the carbon filters more frequently than the R.O. unit, so they sell them separately from the R.O. unit.

Been using GE Profile R/O water system for about 9 years - change the two outside filters on July 04 and January 01 - change the center R/O unit every even year January 01 - looks like same design as always and works well. We use the system in kitchen for making tea and coffee, drinking, water for our dog, water for our countertop waterfall, and rinsing Riedel Glassware. Our teapot doesn't get calcium deposits, the daily electric coffee maker is 7 1/2 years old and the copper base on the countertop waterfall does not corrode - don't know why everyone doesn't have one of these units.

I HAVE TO REMOVE THESE FILTERS AND FIX THEM AGAIN FOR THE SECOND TIME TO GET THE NORMAL FLOW OF WATER. I DO NOT UNDER STAND WHY IT SLOWS DOWN. I DO NOT KNOW WHETHER THIS WILL HAPPEN AGAIN. PLEASE GIVE CORRECTIVE STEPS OR INSTRUCTIONS SO THAT SYSTEM WORKS NORMALLY DURING THE COURSE OF THE LIFE OF THE FILTER. THANKS RATILAL

WORST PRODUCT: My sad history with this product started at Home Depot when I bought GE Reverse Osmosis Filtration in June 2016. During the last 5 months I have had to replace the complete set 2 times. I needed to call the GE technical assistant 2 times, and after he attempted to fix the product, it still didn't work. So, the durability of these filters is weak. I think this is absurd, because I should not have this problem with GE products. This definitely did not meet my expectations.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great system We have used our RO system for 3 years and are happy with it. We drink a lot of water and have to change the filters about every 4 months. We did change out the faucet with another so that the new one matched our other plumbing fixtures in our kitchen. This is less expensive than hiring a leased system.

I just wish they were larger so they would last more than 6 months. By purchasing the two pack from Home Depot I saved about 40% off of what the installing dealer of the RO system was going to charge me just for the filters.
