The longest possible cycle is PLASTICS with added STEAM and extra HEAT drying, which comes in at a whopping 156 minutes!
There is a TOP RACK ONLY option at 70 minutes. This clearly indicates there are separate water circulation controls for the top and bottom, but without getting inside while it's running, it's hard to determine if they rotate during a normal wash cycle!

There are 8 wash cycles, Auto 66 min, Normal 70 min, Deep Clean w/Steam 141 min, Plastics 70 min, China 40 min, Rinse only, Top Rack 70, Quick 37 min.
These are basic times, if you add dry or another feature, it will add time.
I love the Deep Clean w/ Steam, i am impressed with how it make my silverware shine!!
Top circulates water only when top is selected.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Wonderful!!!! I replaced another GE Profile with this one, I am so pleased with this!! It is so much quieter, I have to really listen to see if it has started. My flatware looks great, shiny and new again, and NO SPOTS.Glasses clean with NO spots, a BIG plus for me!! Now, I rinse everything, as it is only the 2 of us, so I run it every other day. But when we have a house full, it runs every day, and less rinsing of the dishes, and it still cleans great. It cleans baking dishes and pots & pans very good..The Steam feature is great. I do use the Cascade w/Dawn action Pacs, and love them....The Stainless Steel cleans easy, everyone told me SS would be so hard to keep clean, I use Weiman wipes (Wal-Mart) every few days, so easy!! Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Well made, but poorly designed I replaced an LG Direct Drive that cost half as much - and I want it back! The racks inside of this GE Profile are horrible. Bowls won't stand up, and I could put 50% more dishes in the LG than this unit will hold just because of the poor rack design. I really would have passed on it had I realized this, but I ordered it online to match the complete $11,000 kitchen appliance replacement. Bad move. February 5, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Not what we expected This unit runs much quieter than our last GE Dishwasher but it leaves food on the dishes and silverware. It doesn't seem to have the power to clean. We have tried different cycles and have made sure water temperature is hot before we start but results seem to be the same. October 18, 2011
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Great dishwasher before it broke Initially I really liked this dishwasher. Fairly quiet, although might be a bit too loud if its located near the family room (mine isn't so its fine). Cleaned really well, and the feature which allows the entire (or most of) the bottle of dishwashing liquid to be added at once is a great idea! However, after only six months the top "spinner" broke off. GE was no help (don't know why I bother to send in those warranty cards if there isn't any real warranty) so now I have it "jimmy-rigged" so that it works okay. Just would expect more than six months out of an appliance at this price-point. February 21, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Does a great job! Amazingly quiet. I've now had this dishwasher installed for about 2 months, and feel like I can review it from knowledge of actually using it. Its predecessor was a 1999 GE dishwasher, that had really stopped cleaning anything at least a year ago, and was pretty noisy. I've been happy with this new one all along, but last night gave it a heck of a test: a baked on lasagne pan (glass Anchor Hocking, sprayed first with Pam, but otherwise no non-stick coating). It had bits stuck on, burned cheese, oily coating inside and out (the lasagne was a white chicken/cheese one, and it overfilled the pan & flowed a bit over the sides onto the oven floor) and I threw it into the dishwasher without touching it to the sink or water first. I put it on the top shelf, facing down, rather than standing it on the lower rack. The rest of the dishwasher was filled normally. I used the "Deep Clean" setting, which adds steam, and I've been using Finish tablets all along. I held my breath opening the dishwasher this morning - and was blown away that EVERYTHING was completely clean, not a bit of a greasy feel on anything, and the lasagne pan looked brand new and squeaky clean. This dishwasher is amazingly quiet and I've checked many times to be sure it's running. This was one of the few models I would consider because many of the new ones out there do not have a food grinder/disposer, and I do not want to have to reach in there and clean out a filter with gunky old food on it! Also, I use the "Rinse & Hold" feature frequently, and many new ones don't have this cycle available. This was defnitely more expensive than we wanted, but it was the only one with every feature we wanted. My husband had an issue with the condition of the unit straight out the box. There were a few things he had to connect (door springs, etc.), the insulation blanket around the body of the washer had slipped and was not where it should be, and there was one light that did not work when it was first in use (we called GE service and they fixed it). Luckily my husband is fairly handy and was able to fix almost everything necessary before he installed the unit. It colored how we felt about it to begin with, but now I can honestly say I love the PDWT500VBB!! I have not used the liquid detergent dispenser yet, so can not review that. I'm getting used to the loading still, as it's very different than my old dishwasher. I find that cereal bowls, which go on the top shelf, don't stand as well as in my old one, but I do like the extra shelves up there for small items or wine glass stems. September 9, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!! As an appliance tech. (of 30 yrs) I find that this unit was the best available!!! If properly installed and the water temp. is set at 130 and the proper soap is used, It works as well as ANY that I have seen in My 30 yrs. of servicing appliances. Its the quietest unit that I have seen to date!! I am hoping that the soap disp. dosen't act up, but so far so good. April 23, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by A Great Investment! Totally worth paying more for this model. It has options such as a "Speed" with a no heated dry setting, that is both Fast and Energy Efficient. We use this as our most common setting and our dishes come out extremely clean! Another "no heated dry option" is for a "Rinse" only cycle. Heated dry cycles include "Sanitize", "Heavy", "Normal", "Light" and "Glasses". There is this Terrific button that allows you to Set the machine to Delay it's Start from 1-24 hours later! What a convenience! The Dishwasher runs Great, but oh so Quietly. I agree with the other comment about the "Smart Dispense" Not so smart. Be careful how you clean it, because you might scratch the stainless surface...Ooops! Definitely happy with my decision and you will too! Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Very poor dishwasher. The inside of the dishwasher never looks clean after the dishes are washed. The Smart dispenser quit working for me. That takes up so much room that I cannot get my regular load of dishes in. I don't feel the dishes in the upper rack get clean eoungh. I wish I had gotten a simpler machine. February 10, 2012
