NO. There are special bulbs for that and you must buy ONLY those for dimming switches.

Answer:
I think any bulb can be used with a timer.. I have a timer on my outdoor lights and have no problem. These cannot be used with a dimmer.

60-Watt Halogen Equivalent A19 energy Efficient Reveal Light Bulb (4-Pack) is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 22.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Questionable quality control Purchased a box of these today. Tonight, the third time they were turned on, the first one failed. That is a 25% failure rate within 6 hours. The color of the light is good. If the other three last, I shall purchase more. I'll undate this at the next bulb failure or three months.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not if you can see the bulb when lit I purchased a 4 pack of these bulbs as I wanted to replace a burned out bulb in a 4 bulb fixture. The original bulbs were the real 60 watt reveal bulbs purchased when I installed the fixture. The fixture is above a bathroom mirror and you can see the bottom of the bulbs if you look up. They are ugly. I thought it was just a bad bulb but all 4 are similar. There are noticeable dark spots and a dark line through the bulb when lit and the color of the light is different than the original bulbs. Why ruin a beautiful fixture with an ugly light bulb. It's not worth the pennies saved on 17 watts / blub. Add to that you can order the 6 bulb pack of the original bulbs for $2 less than the 4 pack of these. You're not really saving anything if these don't last a lot longer than the original bulb and they apparently don't as the stated average life is less than a year at 3 hours / day.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Light Bulbs These light bulbs are equal to a 60 watt incandescent light bulb, they are not very bright but provide enough general lighting to do almost anything.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Brighter These bulbs use less electricity than standard bulbs and are brighter as can be seen by the enclosed photos.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Short life span I only recommend this because it gives off a nice color with the understanding to not expect the reported life span. Add to the shorter than expected and stated life span the high cost and you might be better off with a standard life bulb.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Light I don't know what it is that makes the Reveal bulbs put out better light, but it really works. It is just more crisp. These bulbs do put out plenty of light for less energy. They look and fit just like a standard incandescent bulb, maybe a little heavier. We'll see if they are superior in longevity.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from THEY DO HELP REVEAL ITEMS IN A ROOM. As for energy efficient they are rated to last almost nine (9) years, I will have to get back to you on that. We put two (2) in the living room coffee table lamps, they did brighten up the room, and are using less energy the the Curly Que lights I had in. I put another one in a lamp we have in the kitchen, again we experienced a bright lamp. The fourth one however burned out in 10 minutes, I guess it time traveled to nine (9) years in the future.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Better than the original energy efficient bulbs I will forever be a big fan of the old incandescent bulbs. When the energy efficient bulbs came along a few years back, I was hopeful but didn't really care for the quality of the light. Seemed dimmer and darker than the old incandescent bulbs. These new halogen bulbs give off better, brighter light than the older energy efflicient bulbs but still not the same as the good ol' Edison's bulbs. The Reveal bulbs have a more natural/true light I guess but I like the soft white better. No problem with the how long they are lasting when compared to other reviewers' comments.
