I bought this after constantly smelling chlorine and MCHM. I just don't trust the quality of water. Both my wife and I can tell the difference right away.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by CJ I owned this same system in a previous home.
For more than 15 years this same GE system did an excellent job cleaning up our well water after a water softener system did it's job with iron and taste Our chief concern was well water with a high salt content, a common problem in communities around the Chesapeake Bay - we're on the Virginia side then and now. There was no doubt in our new residence how we would deal with well water, which is better this time, but still high in salt. I strongly recommend this under the sink system. It also gets good life (better than the material says) from all three filters in the system. (Reverse Osmosis, Model GXRM10RBL by G E). CJ

After experiencing a overpressure in the waterline into the drainvalue within the sinkbase from the small black relief line to it and the larger black drain line that dumps into the main plumbing. Contacted customer service and was instruced to buy a newer model and seek a instore credit. My decision was to cut the smaller black felief tube to bypass the vent inside the base of the dispencer. I cut the large black drain tube from the base of the dispencer and then inserted the smaller relief tube into the larger drain tube. This bypassed the vent option at the base of the dispencer and drains direct. Overpressure leak solved and works great without thd expensive costs of loss and replacement.

There is 4 to 1 waste with this RO system. If you have well water this system could work for you. City water in AZ is expensive and to waste 4 gals of water to make 1 does not make sense.

This unit is identical to first one I ever owned and installed in my home. Since then I've tried a cheaper system because the replacement filters were less expensive. That was a mistake because they needed changing so much more often that they ended up being more expensive. I also tried a more expensive unit from a plumbing supply company thinking it would perform better, but the smaller storage tank and more expensive replacement filters made me switch back to this system.
One drawback of this system is that the pre- and post-filters are harder to change because they don't just twist on and off, you have to open up the canister and change the internal cartridge, but that is the reason they last longer, work better, and in the long run are more economical. One thing that would make filter changes easier is a shut-off valve at the storage tank. This is a simple enough do-it-yourself add on, but it would be nice if the manufacturer included it with the system. That way you can just close the valve instead of having to drain the tank every time you change filters.
