I don't know if I am the lucky dog or what, I replaced all three filters (two pre and post filters and RO filter), exactly following the instructions, however, after the replacement my system is stop producing water. I called GE support, and I was told to resanitize and probably increase the pressure of the system. I did all that, and still the system refuse to produce water. Then I called the support the third times, followed steps provided by the support guy, identified the OS filter is defective, which is a brand new OS filter that I just got!! I hope I am the only one that is not so lucky!
The pain is - it costs me the time and energy on replacing and testing and diagnosing the problem, and a month of holiday without purified water!!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by manny looked high and low but the home depot had it, CHEAP.
At first when i called the first few company's looking for Filter, i got very very high quotes. Sometimes as much as 3 times more than home depot. Long story short, ordered it from HD. The had it sent from another store and called me when it came in, took about 5 working days..Over all good price, happy.

Easy to replace, used pliers to pull out by gripping small white plastic center tube (once outer casing opened) since it was firmly in place (damaging it is irrelevant since it is discarded with the rolled blue membrane). Replacement mesh filter was hard to remove, I had unscrew connection and push it out from the back rather than the recommended method of pulling it out with a toothpick. I was unable to seat at the bottom the new wire mesh but I used tubing with new blue connector (has pinpoint hole in it) to seat it as you screw it back together. The blue rolled membrane has a sticker on it that I removed since the sticker reduces the surface area, why they don't recommend removing I don't know why, removing it will only increase filtering rate a small amount.

Replacing filters for an existing filtering unit. The unit filters pretty good which is needed since we have bad city water. Once I figured out how to replace the filters it was pretty easy.

I live where my home has its own well not city water and this product enables the water taste as though it is bottled water. I have had it the 5 years I lived here and also had one in my prior residence which had city water supply and it took all the chemical taste out of that water also. I would highly recomend this product to anyone whether on private well water like my household or municipal supply

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by John RO filter for GE systems
Depending on how you have installed the system, changing the RO Membrane is easy. There are several steps to disinfect the system and remove the preservative on the filter that are time consuming, but give a better long term result. Don't leave out any "O" rings; it'll make a mess!

I feel safe using parts made by the manufacturer of the unit. I have no way to test/evaluate the quality of the parts.
