Product Overview

The shower doesn't have to be off-limits for a full day. Caulk the shower or tub with GE Silicone II Kitchen and Bath and reduce the wait time dramatically. GE Silicone II 100% Silicone adheres to a wide variety of substrates and quickly builds a tight seal that can be exposed to water as little as 30 minutes after application. Some caulk requires wait time of a full day or longer before using the shower or the caulk might wash away. Mold-free product protection helps keep the cured caulk mold- and mildew-free and looking clean for seven years, with regular cleaning. Mold is not only an unsightly and embarrassing problem to have in your bathroom, around a tub or shower, but it might also lead to health problems. Some caulk might claim limited protection, but GE Silicone II Kitchen and Bath is formulated for increased protection. 100% Silicone sealant is widely considered to be the best caulk for recaulking and sealing around bathtubs, showers and faucets as well as other areas in your home that will be exposed to water.

  • Typical silicone sealant uses include caulking around: Showers, bathtubs, sinks, tile, countertops and fixtures
  • Adheres to: Most ceramic tile, laminate, porcelain, glass, metal, plastic, granite and wood
  • 100% Silicone
  • 7 year mold-free product protection
  • Fights bacteria and fungus
  • 30 minute water-ready
  • Permanently waterproof
  • Lifetime guarantee - will not shrink, crack, break down or wash away
  • Low VOC & low odor
  • Soft and flexible
  • Meets Fed spec TT-S-00230C; TT-S-001543A/ASTM C-920, Type-S, NS, Class 25 use NT, M, G, A & O test requirements
  • 100% Silicone is 100% Waterproof. Caulk that keeps water out over time is a necessity in kitchen, bathroom and plumbing applications. For a long-lasting seal 100% Silicone is recommended. Acrylic and siliconized acrylic caulks can shrink and crack, leaving gaps for water to seep through. Those leaks can lead to water damage and mold growth

Answer:
I would prefer to replace the tank, if available. If not, make sure the tank is dry and try some clear GE silicone caulking. I would try to push it into the crack with a putty knife.

I'm not sure you can fix a crack because cracks just seem to progress to become larger and longer. That said you could try some silicone aquarium sealant or a marine sealant that is for below waterline use. That's what I used to fix the leak from my tank, only my leak was coming from the bolts that join the tank to the toilet. I did not have a crack. Good luck.

Rated 4.2 out of 5 by 46 reviewers.
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Much whiter than almond This caulk has a good texture and seals well but the color is much closer to white than almond. If you want a darker caulk, get something else. October 18, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by I'm optimistic So far, so good. Application was easy. Easy to work with. Clean up was easy. But the real test is what is it going to look like 5 years, 10 years, 20 years from now. The advertising says it will last. I doubt that I will remember to come back and update my review. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by I use this all the time for wet areas around the bathroom and kitchen. I cut it and smooth it with paint thinner for an ultra smooth finish. October 25, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Work well A good product. It worked as expected. Better than average similar products. October 25, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Make sure you put a nail down the tip I would have given 5 starts but the silicon at the tip had hardened at the very top. After cutting off the tip, I started pressing the gun, and a bunch came out the back. I removed it, and put a nail down into the opening, heard a little pop. and the silicon came out the tip like it was supposed to. It was a bit messy coming out the back, but next time ill know... Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Little Disappointed Product color (almond) came out white and has stayed that way 2 weeks later. Also found the product very thin. Mildew resistance claim (7 years) remains to be seen. A little disappointed. October 4, 2016
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Caulk We bought this product for installing our new kitchen sink. We did purchase the wrong color and had to return for the clear. Not easy to clean off granite after it oozed we pressing down. Still peeling off after 2 days August 2, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best silicone product on the market This is the best product on the market We use it every day at our home and for clients as well. Dries quickly and very efficient. August 16, 2016
