Product Overview

The outside of a home is exposed to harsh outdoor elements throughout the year. Extreme heat, the sun's UV rays, and freezing temperatures can cause acrylic and siliconized acrylic caulks to lose flexibility and degrade. GE Silicone II Window and Door is permanently flexible and will not break down so it can protect a home as it settles or as the seasons change and joints expand and contract. This movement can cause degraded acrylic caulk to crack and crumble over time, leaving gaps for air and water to seep through. Those leaks can lead to water damage, mold growth, and higher energy bills. GE Silicone II Window and Door develops strength and adhesion quickly so it can be exposed to water in as little as 30 minutes. Some caulk requires up to 24 hours or longer before it can be exposed to water. For homeowners trying to squeeze home maintenance projects into the weekend or pros who are looking to move on to the next job, GE Silicone II can decrease the waiting time, helping increase convenience, speed, and efficiency. 100% Silicone sealant is widely considered to be the best caulk for sealing areas that will be exposed to water.

Can this be used on stucco and cement, to stop water leaks, where the edge of the building meets the cement walkway? (Need some kind of exterior grade waterproof silicone caulk to use to stop water leaking in where bottom of building meets cement on walkway landings, and on the stairway where edge of stairs butts the building. Believe exterior of building is stucco - it appears to be porous.) Interior of garage is getting very wet with all the rain this year, and we want to keep it from seeping inside. Wanted a flexible, waterproof rubber-like sealant that could be brushed on - any suggestions? Need durability and longevity, as well. Also, how much does one tube basically cover? And is one application sufficient? How fast does it dry?

Thank you for posting your question. Initial thoughts based on the project you are describing are that GE Silicone II Window & Door is a gun-grade sealant, rather than brushable. Also this product is not intended for walking surfaces. I recommend contacting our customer service product experts at 1-866-275-4372 for full guidance.

Customer Reviews

Silicone II 10.1 oz. Almond Window and Door Caulk is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Stuff Easy application. Having a cap provided for covering the unused portion is a plus. Used this around the trim on an outside facing door. Appears to be holding up to the ellemnets well so far.
