Product Overview

The outside of a home is exposed to harsh outdoor elements throughout the year. Extreme heat, the sun's UV rays, and freezing temperatures can cause acrylic and siliconized acrylic caulks to lose flexibility and degrade. GE Silicone II Gutter is permanently flexible and will not break down so it can protect a home as it settles or as the seasons change and joints expand and contract. This movement can cause degraded acrylic caulk to crack and crumble over time, leaving gaps for air and water to seep through. Those leaks can lead to water damage, mold growth, and higher energy bills. Silicone caulk, such as GE Silicone II Gutter, develops strength and adhesion quickly so it can be exposed to water in as little as 30 minutes. Some caulk requires up to 24 hours or longer before it can be exposed to water. For homeowners trying to squeeze home maintenance projects into the weekend or pros who are looking to move on to the next job, GE Silicone II can decrease the waiting time, helping increase convenience, speed, and efficiency. 100% Silicone sealant is widely considered to be the best caulk for sealing areas that will be exposed to water.

Customer Questions & Answers

What minimum outdoor temperature can this be applied in?

Asked by: alangski
Three-Hour Rain-Ready: Exposure to water possible in as little as three hours with bead size max of 3/16", temperature minimum of 65° F, and humidity minimum 50 percent. Otherwise, caulk should not be exposed to water for eight hours. Do not touch for 24 hours.

Would this be good to seal gutters to keep water from going behind gutter next to fascia do it wont leak.

Asked by: Michael
Gutters should be held close to fascia with either gutter spikes or hidden hangers not with a sealer or adhesive. Also shingles are supposed to over hang bottom edge of roof 1" over gutter, so water runs off them into the gutter. If you're trying to jerry rig it VS fixing it right you can try to do what you're intending, but problem is surfaces need to be clean for ANY caulk to properly bond, hence see problem with your plan.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sealed area working on very well, very satisfied. Would recommend this product anytime. We installed it around drip edge and side moulding. We received large amount of rain two days later and did not encounter any leaks. as which on another product failed twice.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from worst If possible, I would give the product a minus five. The day after sealing some seams, I checked and the consistency was the same as petroleum jelly just like it came out of the tube. I tested again by putting a 1 inch bead on a board and two days later it is still the same. It doesn't solidify at all. Maybe I got a bad tube but it has no usefulness as caulk. Now I have a mess of trying to clean it off and put on some good caulk. That's next to impossible and nothing sticks to silicone. Save yourself some headaches and test it before using it. Better yet, buy a different brand.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I've found my new exterior clear caulk! I've found my new go to clear silicone exterior caulk. It comes out smoothly no matter the size opening you cut. Can us it in fairly cold temperatures to seal what's needed so long as you don't need to paint it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worked well I used this to seal my shed. Worked just fine, sealed stiff, but still flexible enough to let the wood expand/contract.
