Product Overview

The shower doesn't have to be off-limits for a full day. Caulk the shower or tub with GE Silicone II Kitchen and Bath and reduce the wait time dramatically. GE Silicone II 100% Silicone adheres to a wide variety of substrates and quickly builds a tight seal that can be exposed to water as little as 30 minutes after application. Some caulk requires wait time of a full day or longer before using the shower or the caulk might wash away. Mold-free product protection helps keep the cured caulk mold- and mildew-free and looking clean for seven years, with regular cleaning. Mold is not only an unsightly and embarrassing problem to have in your bathroom, around a tub or shower, but it might also lead to health problems. Some caulk might claim limited protection, but GE Silicone II Kitchen and Bath is formulated for increased protection. 100% Silicone sealant is widely considered to be the best caulk for re-caulking and sealing around bathtubs, showers and faucets as well as other areas in your home that will be exposed to water.

Silicone II 10.1 oz. White Kitchen and Bath Caulk is rated 3.1 out of 5 by 20.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Does not cure or dry Bought the pack of two...seemed like a good deal but the stuff does not cure. Bad batch maybe... no wonder Home Depot put it on sale- they probably knew from the manufacturer that the lot numbers were a bad mix...my tubes are not expired, nwver frozen or heated and always at a constant temperature.

It does everything it says it does and as it's been a few months now since I used it (on several things in the bathrooms) it is still bright white, no shrinking and I am very pleased with it. I used it in one of the shower areas and it is constantly getting wet and I am happy to say, no staining, no mildew starting up or mold. Just nice bright white. The nozzle is perfect for getting it exactly where you want it with almost no excess to wipe or clean up. But if you do have to wipe it, it is very easy to clean off anywhere you do not want it. The squeeze tube also has a great cap that keeps the rest of the tube from getting hard so you can use it again. I really like this product and highly recommend it!

I used it in my shower to re-do the corners and bottom of the tub and it never fully cured after 48 hrs. I also apparently didn't fully puncture the interior film of the tube, so it was a nightmare getting it out before I realized what was wrong and it had come out the back, as well. That was my fault, I guess, though I would have expected a standard size caulk gun to have worked to puncture it. Anyway, I know you aren't supposed to put silicone over silicone, but I had some clear Gorilla Sealant Silicone and it covered it over the GE stuff and it has already cured. I haven't used the shower yet, but since it is hardened, I don't expect it to be a problem. My bathroom was dry (it's winter) so, I also set a humidifier in there for a while to help cure the silicones. I wouldn't buy this again I wish Gorilla sold it in white and a larger tube because that worked much better.

I've been painting all my life and using caulk and sealants. I'm not sure why hardware stores keep this junk on their shelves. I had a bad experience with GE branded caulk one time before and somehow ended up with another tube. It was so thin it fell back out of the space I was caulking, wouldn't stay in place at all. anyone else experienced this??

Make sure you use the entire tube. Tried to use a second time 3/4 days later and had a difficult time to get it to flow. When I took the tube off my caulking gun most of what was left in the tube leaked out the back end. What a mess to clean up! Had to throw about 1/3 of the tube away.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great stuff- pro tip below This is the best silicone you can use in your bath/shower area. It will never mold if you install correctly and don't have wide thick bands of extra silicone protruding out from the corners. This is where mold growth starts. Follow the tip below for a flawless job: Pro tip - cut off the tip of the tube with a sharp razor at an angle - never use the built in cutter on the caulk gun. Make sure the hole isn't too big when cutting. Apply your bead with slow steady pressure - don't overload your corners. Before smoothing, spray an ammonia free window cleaner over the top of your fresh bead and surrounding area. Also put some window cleaner on your finger. Run your finger down the joint with light pressure and clean your finger with a rag to remove excess silicone frequently. You'll be amazed at how well this trick works. The window cleaner does not harm the product. Once your done, let the excess cleaner dry on its own. Don't try to wipe off - you'll ruin your work. I've been using this trick forever - learned from a pro storefront window installer years back.
