Product Overview

  • 100% Silicone Caulk
  • 7-year mold-free product protection
  • 30-minute water-ready - permanently waterproof
The shower doesn't have to be off-limits for a full day. Caulk the shower or tub with GE Silicone II Kitchen and Bath and reduce the wait time dramatically. GE Silicone II 100% Silicone adheres to a wide variety of substrates and quickly builds a tight seal that can be exposed to water as little as 30 minutes after application. Some caulk requires wait time of a full day or longer before using the shower or the caulk might wash away. Mold-free product protection helps keep the cured caulk mold- and mildew-free and looking clean for seven years, with regular cleaning. Mold is not only an unsightly and embarrassing problem to have in your bathroom, around a tub or shower, but it might also lead to health problems. Some caulk might claim limited protection, but GE Silicone II Kitchen and Bath is formulated for increased protection. 100% Silicone sealant is widely considered to be the best caulk for recaulking and sealing around bathtubs, showers and faucets as well as other areas in your home that will be exposed to water.

Questions & Answers

What is the best method to smoothen out the silicone line around the shower and make the line look even?

Asked by: Cdl
The best way is with painters tape. Leave a slight gap on each side of the space you will be caulking with the tape. Make sure it is straight and even all the way around. Caulk all around the tub and then use rubbing alcohol and slightly dampen the tip of your finger with it and run a smooth line with your finger over the space all the way around. Try not to stop. Remove the tape carefully soon after you do your finish line, make sure you remove the tape before the caulk sets.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best white rubber The main reason of this reviewis to correct the bad one. I will also add 1 star for correction. Another review (with 1 star only) was lobvuosly about old, expired sealant (happens frequently with big retailers). When Silicon II is old, it can really create particles (balls). I have 1 tube, open three-years ago, it looks wet, but has particle, add caulk gun can not push this wet stuff out. Fresh sealant is extremely smooth, because it is nearly single-component viscous solution. Same as clean silicon (which has twice lower retail price), Silicon II is very sticky, and, because of relatively low viscosity and high "fluidity", can fill small gaps. As silicone, it is softer when cured than polyurethane or silicon-acrylic mixture, and can survive larger vibrations (expansions), temperatures and different "earth life forms". Silicon II cues much slower (by a factor of 10 or more) than clear 100% silicone, it is easier to handle. The best product for relatively narrow gaps, when its white (or another available) color is suitable, and can form very neat seals. I use it outdoor as well. Because of price I would give 4, but +1 for correction.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Don't Choose GE Silicon II kitchen/bath/plumbing for use with caulk gun. I have several rental units so for repairs I buy products in multiple numbers so that I have what I need, when I need it. I bought GE Silicon II and after a while needed it in the bathroom. I used a tube. It never set up. It remained a goopy mess and began to crack. I called GE and found out that they use a chemical that purposely breaks down in the tube that leaves the product unusable. They do not warranty it and they do not replace it. Nowhere on the tube does it read that if you use it past the "use by" date that it would never set up, breakdown or turn to an unusable goop. It DOES say that it is warranted for life as long as you own it and the house you use it on. I think it's odd that a product that comes out of the tube will set up to a permanent flexible seal warrantied for a lifetime but if it stays in the sealed airtight tube will breakdown and become an oily goop that has no warranty. Other sealants will not breakdown in the tube, they might dry up but they don't break down. Goop removal and cleanup was expensive, tedious and time consuming. I suggest contacting your local hardware store that sells this product and ask them to support consumer protection with this product. In other words, don't sell a product that no one will warranty despite the fact it states it has a warranty.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works great It feels like it's a bit pricey, but it works. I used it in my shower and it went just fine. If you have extra left over after a job, just ram a bolt in the hole and it usually will keep. If not, just throw it out because this stuff dries out if left open. I made a video you can see installing it in the shower. I use this about every 2-4 years when needed. If you do this at 9am saturday morning, you can take a shower at 9pm at night. One tube should be more than enough.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from SiliconII for Boats If you need to seal anything topside on your boat theis is the stuff to use. Have sealed Electronics fittings, Portholes, Rod Holders and other items. Helps bed the item to prevent vibrations and keep the water out. Need to try it below the waterline. Rated 4 out of 5 by from Caulk tub surround seams Walking into the caulking aisle can be intimidating, there are so many choices. I spent a lot of time reading the back labels for guidance. I came to select the GE silicone as it is permanently waterproof, flexible and shrink proof. I purchased this to caulk the lines where my shower liners met each other and the tub itself. It was very easy to apply with the caulking gun and I found using my finger was good enough to smooth out the caulk before it dried in place. I did this over 6 months ago and have had no performance issues. The caulk is still bright white and has not fallen out or shrunk. What I did not know, until reading some reviews here is that caulk can expire, just took a closer look at the bottle (since I only ended up using half of the tube) and it has a small stamp stating the use by date.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Turns yellow within 24 hrs. Bought this product for a tub surround and within 24 hrs it turned to a lemon yellow. I now have to remove it all and find a non-yellowing caulk. Expensive and dissapointing. GE caulk products will never be purchased again.
