Silicone II 2.8 oz. Clear Window and Door Caulk

Frequently Bought Together

Product Overview

The outside of a home is exposed to harsh outdoor elements throughout the year. Extreme heat, the sun's UV rays, and freezing temperatures can cause acrylic and siliconized acrylic caulks to lose flexibility and degrade. GE Silicone II Window and Door is permanently flexible and will not break down so it can protect a home as it settles or as the seasons change and joints expand and contract. This movement can cause degraded acrylic caulk to crack and crumble over time, leaving gaps for air and water to seep through. Those leaks can lead to water damage, mold growth, and higher energy bills. GE Silicone II Window and Door develops strength and adhesion quickly so it can be exposed to water in as little as 30 minutes. Some caulk requires up to 24 hours or longer before it can be exposed to water. For homeowners trying to squeeze home maintenance projects into the weekend or pros who are looking to move on to the next job, GE Silicone II can decrease the waiting time, helping increase convenience, speed, and efficiency. 100% Silicone sealant is widely considered to be the best caulk for sealing areas that will be exposed to water.

Answer:
Silicone caulks stick like crazy. You want something like Zip-A-Way Removable Weather Stripping or DAP Seal 'N Peel Removable Weatherstrip Caulk that is designed to be removable. ( I haven't used either one of them personally ). Home depot lists both of these.

Answer:
The specs portion of the product page says this one is not paintable. Pure silicone caulks are usually not. There are some "siliconized" latex painters caulks that can be painted but this isn't one of them.

Hi Paul,
Visit your local auto parts store and buy the automotive version of this product. It's available in black.
It will be more effective for your application.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.5 out of 5 by 2 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Got the job done I bought this to see if it would stop a leak I was having. I used it to fill a small gap in some weather stripping on a windshield. It filled the gap nicely and with a wet sponge, I was able to clean up the excess easily. After it cured I went through a car wash and it kept the water out. I will be using this for any problems in the future. October 2, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Worked Great! I used this silicone caulking to waterproof/seal/glue together two plastic pieces during a project at home. It's working well and it's still holding together several weeks later. I've also used GE bathroom caulking (a similar product, but not the same as this product). I had good results with it. So, GE quality seems reliable, in my experience. I don't find the need for latex caulking anymore. A good quality silicone seems to do a better job in most of my applications. March 29, 2012
