Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by justUS2FL Number of gallons months usage
I see a number of reviews based on time or clogged. With "average city water" it's NSF rated for 3000 gal or 3 months. However very bad water will clog it up much faster or less than 3000 gal. This is a "1 micron nominal". That means "Most" things 1 micron or bigger get stuck in the filter. A 1 micron absolute traps ALL 1 micron & bigger. The 3 months is safty so bacteria dont grow in it. Most places can probably go a lot longer. However places like FL where many things grow in the city water not so long. Try a 5 micron for the whole house activated carbon ($6-$7) for a two pack. Plus this 1 micron filter for cold drinking. It will last MUCH longer.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Jacko GOOD CHLORINE FILTER
i have been using these for years. I have municipal water so their primary use is for chlorine filtration. They used to last 3+ months but for about a year now they only last for 1 1/2- 2 months tops. I might try another brand to see if there is a difference in filter life since taste is my only concern.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Anon They Filter Water and Everything!!
These water filters were delivered as requested, that's kind of why I asked for them. They filter water as good as any water filter I've seen. Because that's what they do. They're water filters.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by handynot wrong dimensions
this filter is to REPLACE the smaller GE fxutc model. Well it is TOO BIG to fit into the housing that I have had for 20 years. Also the dimensions on this filter say 2.25" diameter but it really is about 3" so it can only fit into a housing that is much bigger than all of the older units that are out there. And the other GE filters that are for lead, chemicals etc are the 2.5" size and are next to this filter on the shelf. So what do we do to find a basic chlorine/sediment filter that fits? Not at the Depot.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Bob Good product, but was hard to find----- obsolete?
Unfortunately, these filters are evidently nearing "obsolete parts" status for the filter we have, as we can no longer buy them in the store. Thank goodness, they were still available on-line!
They are good, simple yet effective filters, for a reasonable price.
