Answer:
I put 2 together in parallel and obtained 1.3 GPM, for a water dispenser,so you would have to put 6 or 8 filters together in parallel in order to service the average house. I recommend the 5 micron filter, which 2 in parallel, will service a whole house with cleaner water than a 25 micron filter. Mo

Answer:
This filter is designed for a single small faucet and only flows a small amount of water. It is not recommended for use on your normal kitchen faucet due to the reduced flow, and would never work as a whole house filter.

Answer:
No, the flow rate would be way too low to use this for whole house. It would only make a trickle in a shower or washing machine. Look at the size of the tubing for whole house versus undersink.

Hello,
Thank you for your inquiry on the GE Chlorine+Lead+Chemical Undersnk Filter model # FXUVC.
In order to answer your questions, I will need the model number and brand of the whole house system to see what filters it requires.

In my Research on this Filter the Micron rating was .5 Micron which would as stated above make the flow for a whole house Filter VERY slow. Even with a High water pressure it would be a pan to wait on.

The GX1S01R is the filter housing alone. It does not come with a filter. You buy the filter of your choice, separately.

The filter numbers should have stayed the same. If not there is a square on the package that tells what it replaces.

Customer Reviews

Rated 4.3 out of 5 by 27 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by water filter This filter was so effective that it held back so much water that we had little water pressure. Not even the water could get through. For example, we could not wash our hands until the toilet finished refilling, which took a long time at such a slow rate of flow. I didn't know if the low flow rate would affect the washing machine or dishwasher so I took it out and replaced it with a less effective filter within 24 hours. It wasn't something we could live with so I threw it away at a cost of $35 for less than a day. Very disappointed. September 8, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Unknown product It is too soon to truly evaluate the product or the value of the purchse. It will take some time over period of use to completely know how good it is. As the only filter I could find to apparently replace the original that I had purchased from Home Depot I was rather forced to accept it in order to avoid having to replace the entire filter assembly. It is becoming more and more of a problem trusting stores to continue support for the products they sell. June 25, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by It Is What It Is I have a two stage under sink water filtering system. When I put it in several years ago you could easily find filters for it......Sometimes a package of two different filters which worked just fine. Now I have to scrounge around to find filters that may or may not be what my system needs. Anyhow it is what it is and seems to work as it says.....removing sediment...if any is in the county water supply. June 28, 2016

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great product, this is second time I am buying it. Very easy to install and filters the water very well. Good tasting water with no odors. May 23, 2016
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Under sink filter Every so often I get black sludgy stuff from the tip of my filtered water faucet. It causes the water to spray out in different directions until I get it cleaned off. Don't know what this stuff is, but I would have thought the filter should be preventing this. May 10, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good Product The filters are pricey, but Home depot shipped them very quickly, and my water tastes great again. March 8, 2016
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Clean, tasty water We purchased this filter along with the GE Undercounter Standard Filter Unit. The taste is phenomenal. Our area is actually having a seasonal issue with water taste due to geosmin (dead algae). This filter not only removes the bad taste and smell, but gives a clean, pleasant taste. Some reviews online state that the water flow rate is very low. We have found it to be fine considering the large amounts of contaminants it removes. Also, you have to consider that this filter takes out MTBE's and VOC's, if that is important to you. It does take a bit to fill a one gallon pitcher, but it is not long enough to be aggravating--not near as long as the faucet filter we have used before. The water is even better than with the two-stage undersink filter we have had. All the stages are basically in one filter. We use probably 3-4 gallons of filtered water daily for tea, cooking, and drinking and it is still doing great after a couple of months. So glad we went with this over the reverse osmosis system that takes up so much room and uses three filters. Also, easy to install and change the filter. I feel it is worth the money spent.
