I am planning to buy one. But all my cabinet handles are in Brush Nickels. Are there more types available in this Single Filter System? Also I need to know where to buy other than Home Depot.

Hi Tom- This is Sue at GE Appliances. The SINGLE STAGE WATER FILTRATION SYSTEM
GX1S50R is not designed for use with an icemaker. Check out our IN-LINE WATER FILTRATION SYSTEM, FOR REFRIGERATORS OR ICEMAKERS GXRLQ. Compatible with refrigerators without built-in filtration. Easily attaches directly to existing refrigerator/icemaker water line. Thanks for checking with us!

Single Stage Water Filtration System is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 38.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor product, poor handling This arrived used. It was rusted and corroded and Home Depot just sent it back out anyway. I'm guessing that it doesn't work very well as a filter with all of the buildup plus the fact that it was also rusted leads me to believe that the quality of the metal is poor as well. Returned it back to the store the same day it arrived. The clerk at the store was pleasant though and she said that she would try to make sure it didn't get sent back out.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from single stage quick replace lead/cyst under sink water filtration system We had this product delivered to our local Home Depot. Picked it up, brought it home, opened the box. General Electric had the wrong base unit for the product. Returned it the next day to Home Depot, they made numerous calls on our behave to try to get G.E. to send the correct base/part to them, then Home Depot would call to have us come in to get the correct part. Well, after about 1 hour with Home Depot taking their time to correct G.E.'s mistake. G.E. wouldn't take care of this. Home Depot refunded out money and even ordered another complete unit for us. Which of course we'll pay for since G.E. doesn't seem to care about the time, effort and inconvenience they have caused us and Home Depot. Home Depot is the best.....G.E. not so much.

I don't know why manufacturers continue to include plastic pieces for plumbing installations? They rarely fit correctly and if you thread it wrong, the fitting gets damaged easily. Other than the plastic fitting, this system was a breeze to install and it works great. It is handy to have a seperate drinking water system spout vice the ones installed on the kitchen faucet.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Happy Camper The product looks very clean and does not intrude on the looks of our kitchen. The installation was very simple. Buying another for the second house. Definitely recommend. My only complaint is that Home Depot took about 14 days to deliver.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product; excellent installation manual; great value. Purchased on sale. Installed without trouble. Reversible, so handle can be on either side. In my case I needed an extra hole in the sink, which is porcelain and metal. I bought a $12 carbide drill bit and borrowed a neighbor's hammer drill for that. Faucet comes with very good printed instructions. They recommend creating a 1" hole if you do not already have a hole available, but I found 3/4" was more than wide enough. The reminder light is simply a 6-month timer. The owner's manual recommends replacing the timer's lithium-ion battery each time you replace the filter, but I plan to just remove and replace the same battery to reset the timer, and see if I can get a couple of years out of the battery. I find the fill speed is on the order of 1 gallon per minute.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works well -- when it works The filter system is relatively easy to install (medium DIYer skills required) and filters are easy to change. Filters are expensive and don't last very long (flow diminishes fairly quickly). After maybe 8-10 filter changes the filter "manifold" fails (starts making a buzzing noise and no water comes out) and needs to be replaced. This is apparently due to a cam in the unit that wears down with filter changes -- planned obsolescence, similar to a light bulb.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Filter The filter that comes with the unit doesn't work you end up having to buy a new one just not right for what you pay for. The unit works well my only problem is the filter that comes with the unit.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Filter I purchased this filtration system last year. Six month later, I ordered a replacement filter on line and I had no problem to get one. Now, the replacement filter is no longer available on line. I checked in store and you can only purchace the filter with the Head wich will cost 40$ instead of the 20$ for the filter alone. Unless you plan on spending 40$ for a replacement filter, check another make.
