The filter that comes with the unit doesn't work you end up having to buy a new one just not right for what you pay for. The unit works well my only problem is the filter that comes with the unit.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by BearBill Good use of 3rd hole in sink
The instructions were clear and easy to follow. The device works well and is a better use of the extra hole commonly found in 3 hole sinks.

We had this product delivered to our local Home Depot. Picked it up, brought it home, opened the box. General Electric had the wrong base unit for the product. Returned it the next day to Home Depot, they made numerous calls on our behave to try to get G.E. to send the correct base/part to them, then Home Depot would call to have us come in to get the correct part. Well, after about 1 hour with Home Depot taking their time to correct G.E.'s mistake. G.E. wouldn't take care of this. Home Depot refunded out money and even ordered another complete unit for us. Which of course we'll pay for since G.E. doesn't seem to care about the time, effort and inconvenience they have caused us and Home Depot. Home Depot is the best.....G.E. not so much.

I had one of these filtration systems in my old home. I went to Home Depot to get one exactly the same but they don't carry them in store. I bought another make but when I got home it was cheaply made and I decided to see what was offered on line. I was so happy to see they had the original system that I had originally.

We bought this to replace an existing under sink water filter. It was easy to install and works great. I just wish it had better water pressure. It runs a little slow for my liking.

Everything needed for the install was included, more than enough supply line. Love the water pressure, a friend has an older model filtration system and its not good, his trickles out. I was concerned this would be the same but not so, this one works great. Important to note, I had to run the water for 5 minutes roughly to get rid of the plastic taste that I believe comes from the supply line, I also would run it for around 2-3 seconds before using it for the first week, this really helped the taste. Now it's fine and I no longer do this. Wish I had put this in sooner.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by MasterDaniel904 Read this before you install this unit!
First, this is the third unit that I have installed. My aunt, my neighbor, and myself all wanted the features and GE name. Once installed, we have not had any of the problems listed above, but all three installs have been in the last year, so time will tell. The filter works great! The taste of the water compared to that which comes from the faucet is like night and day. We have really cruddy water here.
Now to the issues. Yes, you can install it with the handle on the left or right, but there is no provision for changing the direction the handle turns! So on the right, you pull forward, on the left you push backwards. Be aware of this!
Next, if you have a standard sized sink with pre-drilled holes, or if you drill your own hole without paying close attention, you are going to run into two MAJOR design issues. The base of the unit DOES NOT SIT CENTERED ON THE HOLE! It sticks out forward so far that it will actually hang over the sink! One solution I chose was to put the base on sideways. Another was to drill the hole out a second time further back. Which brings us to the question, WHAT WERE THE DESIGNERS DRINKING THE DAY THEY CAME UP WITH THE WAY THE FAUCET BODY ATTACHES TO THE BASE? The body must be put in 90 degrees off its final position, and then twisted into place. The handle is NOT removable. If you have a standard sized sink, your splash guard or wall will NOT allow the body to fit into the base for right handed mounting! The one way I got it to work was to not tighten the mounting bolt completely for the base, mounted the body, turned the base into position, held the bolt under the sink with a pliers, and knocked the butterfly bracket around until it tightened.
Once installed. There is a set screw that is a pain in the rear to put in in the rear. Again, not enough space between the unit and the back splash. These are standard sink measurements, GE, what were you thinking?
You, take all the parts out of the box, line them up, try to twist and untwist things. Check the length of tools to see if you can manipulate things. Consider mounting it sideways, or drill a new hole to the side of the sink forward of the regular faucet center line. Good luck!

For years we used a filter that attached to the faucet causing drips and leaks and always needing replacement of filters and parts. We handily installed this filter along with a new faucet. Easy installation and it looks great.
