Hello. I have an over the range GE JVM1750 that is completely dead. None of the buttons work. I bought a new one JVM3160DFCC thinking it would fit. However, as the door on the new one needs additional clearance it will not fit. We have a wall to the left of the microwave and the door of the unit would hit the wall and wouldn't open. Does GE make any over the range microwaves with a zero clearance door? Seems silly that the design of the door was changed and it looks as if we won't be GE customers any longer.

Hello,
This is Michelle with GE. I am sorry to hear of this issue.
All current GE Over-the-Range microwaves, including this model JVM3160DFCC, require a maximum cabinet depth above and beside the unit of 13". The minimum distance from door hinge side to an adjacent wall should be 1/2".
Thank you for checking.

My stove is white and the oven door is black. I know this model is not made. What model numbers would you recommend to replace this model. it has to have a light for cooking and a nite light and as many features that this model has.

I would like to find one in black. Black is discontinued maybe some one has one in the shop unopened they will sell me.

Smart Meters will be using power transmitters in appliances to connect with these meters. When has your company BEGAN to install these into your appliances. Can it be removed or disengaged?

The good news is that all of our 30" Spacemaker over-the-range microwaves are designed to be installed in the same standard upper cabinet space (30" min. width, 12" min.-13" max. depth, 66" min. mounting height). Also, most all of our models come in black. None of them, however, offer the smart meter.
Please see the many models that we offer on the website. Should you have additional questions, please let us know.

Hi,

My microwave which vents outside, pulls air from the top vent above the door as well as from the bottom. Because it pulls grease, etc in front of the microwave and through the top vent which makes the door dirty, etc. How can I increase the airflow from the bottom and stop venting from the top grill?

Answer:
Hello,
This is Joyce from GE. I will be happy to help. There isn't a direct replacement for this model. However, all of our current 30" models that start with the letters JVM, CVM, PVM, PNM, and SCA will normally fit into the same area. The dimensions may vary, but just slightly. These models all have a built-in fan underneath the microwave and are designed to be installed over a range or cooktop.

Hello,
This is Joyce from GE.
JVM's require a minimum 66" mounting height from the floor to top of the microwave. JVM models may be mounted higher than 66" from floor, but the further the microwave is from the cooktop, the more the vent draw capability is affected. The 66" from the floor dimension will allow approximately 14"-16" between the cooktop and the bottom front of the microwave. On the newer JVM's which are taller, the minimum would be 13 1/2".
Please note that it is not critical that this 13 1/2"/14"-16" figure is met exactly. But it is critical that the 66" from floor to top of microwave dimension is followed. If there is less than 66", the warranty is void if problems occur due to heat or steam from the cooktop surface below the microwave. Another way to look at it is to keep 30" between the top of the range and bottom of the cabinet that the JVM attaches to.
It is also important to know that you will need to use the mounting brackets and hardware that come with the new microwave. The mounting kits have changed over the years and are not interchangeable. Current models are installed with the use of a mounting plate. There is a key slot for flat bottomed cabinets and self-directed tapping screws. Please see the link below to all of our current over the range microwaves in white. Keep in mind that your current model is 1.6 cubic ft.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Worst Purchase ever!!! Run is all I can tell you. I bought this and have had 7 repairs...all under warranty. I got a hold of my Manager at Home depot and said enough is enough last time they came out was 1 week ago and it just broke again. JUNK. He is replacing it with a new one. December 18, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by GE Spacemaker Microwave In 2001 I bought a GE microwave; shortly after installation I noticed a crack in the bottom of the door frame; by 2006 the crack was severe. I contacted GE; they said mine was the first complaint of this type and send a 'good will rebate' of $75 for the purchase of another unit. Fool that I am, I purchased another GE in Oct 2006, same model. About a year ago the door handle started coming loose; today the handle brok at the base where it's screwed in to the frame. I don't have kids, the unit was not abused. In searching other consumer sites, I see that other owners have had similar problems. This seems to be a manufacturing defect. I would stay away from GE. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Heats unevenly - very disappointed!! I had another GE Spacemaker which lasted 10 years, and I replaced that one with this one when it died. I was hoping the quality would be the same and boy was I wrong. This microwave heats so unevenly, part of a bagel will be frozen solid while another part too hot to even touch. Or with bacon part is overcooked and the other is raw. I even took a dish out, and part of the plate felt cool to the touch, and when I switched hands the other part was practically on fire and burned my finger tips. I am so disappointed not to mention aggravated, now I have to try to get it refunded or repaired. Uggggh.. April 3, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointed I love the way this microwave looks and it matched the stove I bought. I read all the reviews prior to purchasing it, and thought it was the best choice. I was dissappointed that the first time I use it the plastic hooks that hold the metal rack inside melted off?! What the heck?! I called the service line and they said since my bag of popcorn was so light on the rack, the hooks melted off?? They told me that the metal tray needs to be tooken out if nothing is sitting on it because the hooks will melt off? WHAT? That is the stupidest thing i've ever heard and I NEVER had to do this with any of my prior Microwaves. They did send me replacement hooks out and I received them 2 days later. May 22, 2012
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Worst appliance I have ever purchased! This product only lasted 2 1/2 years. I have had coffee makers that lasted longer. Called GE and was told that it was no longer under warranty. They wanted $75 to just come out and look at it. Don't waste your money. December 27, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Keypad shorted - 2 different units over 4 years. Shoddy. We've had two different microwaves die with the exact same problem in only a 4 year period. The only saving grace is buying it with American express doubled the warranty and they paid the claim to get another. Both have died at just under 2 years. It's obviously a known problem and really lousy design if this keeps happening with us and others. The problem is, it's the only microwave that will fit perfectly over the stove. Our original GE microwave was new in the house when we bought it. Lasted 12 years or so. The last 2, 2 years each. November 22, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by So far so good We were able to install this GE microwave by using the hardware on the wall from our previous GE spacemaker microwave which lasted for 12 years. The new microwave has a much dimmer interior light making it difficult to see food as it is cooking. Other than the light it seems much the same as our old microwave with sensor cooking and similar cooking times. I just hope it lasts as I have read many folks having problems with new GE microwaves. May 15, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by "KEYPAD SHORTED--- SERVICE MAY BE NEEDED", Model HVM1750 Used the unit for exactly 2 yrs., then the message, "KEYPAD SHORTED--- SERVICE MAY BE NEEDED". Technician to just come is $95, Keypad/Control Assembly at GE Parts On-line is $206, plus actual labor-- cost tells me it's better to get a new unit. I expected more from GE. I noticed a lot of other reviews for the GE Spacemaker Microwave models breaking down within 2 years. Hope GE does something about this. March 19, 2013
