Hello. I have an over the range GE JVM1750 that is completely dead. None of the buttons work. I bought a new one JVM3160DFCC thinking it would fit. However, as the door on the new one needs additional clearance it will not fit. We have a wall to the left of the microwave and the door of the unit would hit the wall and wouldn't open. Does GE make any over the range microwaves with a zero clearance door? Seems silly that the design of the door was changed and it looks as if we won't be GE customers any longer.

Answer:
Hello,
This is Michelle with GE. I am sorry to hear of this issue.
All current GE Over-the-Range microwaves, including this model JVM3160DFCC, require a maximum cabinet depth above and beside the unit of 13". The minimum distance from door hinge side to an adjacent wall should be 1/2".
Thank you for checking.

My stove is white and the oven door is black. I know this model is not made. What model numbers would you recommend to replace this model. it has to have a light for cooking and a nite light and as many features that this model has.

I would like to find one in black. Black is discontinued maybe some one has one in the shop unopened they will sell me.

Smart Meters will be using power transmitters in appliances to connect with these meters. When has your company BEGAN to install these into your appliances. Can it be removed or disengaged?

The good news is that all of our 30" Spacemaker over-the-range microwaves are designed to be installed in the same standard upper cabinet space (30" min. width, 12" min.-13" max. depth, 66" min. mounting height). Also, most all of our models come in black. None of them, however, offer the smart meter.
Please see the many models that we offer on the website. Should you have additional questions, please let us know.

Hi,

My microwave which vents outside, pulls air from the top vent above the door as well as from the bottom. Because it pulls grease, etc in front of the microwave and through the top vent which makes the door dirty, etc. How can I increase the airflow from the bottom and stop venting from the top grill?

Answer:
Hello,
This is Joyce from GE. I will be happy to help. There isn't a direct replacement for this model. However, all of our current 30" models that start with the letters JVM, CVM, PVM, PNM, and SCA will normally fit into the same area. The dimensions may vary, but just slightly. These models all have a built-in fan underneath the microwave and are designed to be installed over a range or cooktop.

Hello,
This is Joyce from GE.
JVM's require a minimum 66" mounting height from the floor to top of the microwave. JVM models may be mounted higher than 66" from floor, but the further the microwave is from the cooktop, the more the vent draw capability is affected. The 66" from the floor dimension will allow approximately 14"-16" between the cooktop and the bottom front of the microwave. On the newer JVM's which are taller, the minimum would be 13 1/2".
Please note that it is not critical that this 13 1/2"/14"-16" figure is met exactly. But it is critical that the 66" from floor to top of microwave dimension is followed. If there is less than 66", the warranty is void if problems occur due to heat or steam from the cooktop surface below the microwave. Another way to look at it is to keep 30" between the top of the range and bottom of the cabinet that the JVM attaches to.
It is also important to know that you will need to use the mounting brackets and hardware that come with the new microwave. The mounting kits have changed over the years and are not interchangeable. Current models are installed with the use of a mounting plate. There is a key slot for flat bottomed cabinets and self-directed tapping screws. Please see the link below to all of our current over the range microwaves in white. Keep in mind that your current model is 1.6 cubic ft.

Spacemaker 1.7 cu. ft. Over the Range Microwave in Stainless Steel-DISCONTINUED is rated 3.8 out of 5 by 113.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Out side light for stove So far it works OK, except for the light under the microwave is too far back and to functional, also the fan is way too loud compared to my last GE microwave.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Looks good, nothing but problems This is a very attractive microwave, but came with same issues that I have dealt with before. This was the third GE microwave that we have owned that the heating element went bad. This time, of course, it was right after the warranty ran out. Also, the door never worked exactly right. When you would open it, the door would drop down just a little and make a rubbing sound. I love my other GE appliances, but microwaves just do not seem to be something that GE does well.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Handle came unscrewed after a week The microwave works fine. was easy to mount and looks great. However, the bottom part of the handle came unscrewed within a week. Because the back of the screw is not accessible it cannot simply be screwed back on and will require a service call to GE. Doesn't give me high hopes that this microwave will last long. Time will tell.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Disappointed I love the way this microwave looks and it matched the stove I bought. I read all the reviews prior to purchasing it, and thought it was the best choice. I was dissappointed that the first time I use it the plastic hooks that hold the metal rack inside melted off?! What the heck?! I called the service line and they said since my bag of popcorn was so light on the rack, the hooks melted off?? They told me that the metal tray needs to be tooken out if nothing is sitting on it because the hooks will melt off? WHAT? That is the stupidest thing i've ever heard and I NEVER had to do this with any of my prior Microwaves. They did send me replacement hooks out and I received them 2 days later.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great microwave. Good size, attractive. Plenty of power, cooks quickly and evenly. Price is a little higher, but well worth it.
Date published: 2011-04-30
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Looks Great! This microwave has a clean look with no vents showing. We picked this model due to the low price because we may upgrade other appliances in the not so far future and don't think bisque will be the color we go to. Only downside on this that I have found after a couple of weeks is that the beverage button must not use a sensor because you cannot drink anything for awhile after taking it out. We even had a cup of coffee come to a boil!
Date published: 2011-05-01
Rated 5 out of 5 by from completely satisfied First let me say there are two people in our household. We use it moderately to reheat, defrost, and cook some food. It is not our primary cooking instrument most of that is done on a range but it is used daily. We have found no flaws and are quite surprised how well the sensors work given our experience with other microwaves. Exhaust fan is nice the light for the range top is lacking but then again we didnt buy it for a light fixture. Less than 30 days of use.
