How exact is 24" wide -- might it be 23.5"?

I had a previous version of this dishwasher MODEL # GLDT696TSS (purchased 2011) that was advertised as 24" wide, but turns out was a little less than that because it fit into a space I now see is only 23 and 5/8" wide. Sadly, I discovered this when the guys tried to install a new one that was also advertised as 24" wide and really is that wide -- meaning it's 3/8" too wide to fit.

So now, I'm wanting to know if this model really truly is 24" wide or may it be like it's predecessor and really a tiny bit less than that?

check the specifications for assuembled height, but the real question is do you have a floor built up in front of the dishwasher that reduces the opening size for installation....

Answer:
According to the specs on the product page:
Cut-Out Left to Right Width (in.) 24 in
Cut-Out Height (in.) 32-11/32 in
...and the depth (which you didn't give us) was 24 inches. If all of these numbers match up, then this dishwasher would fit fine in that space.

Since most people who've bought this dishwasher bought it because their floor boxed in their old dishwasher, I imagine that most people had to have their old dishwashers cut out to fit this new (small) one in- can anyone confirm how thy removed their old one and if Home Depot did it?

Top Control Dishwasher in Stainless Steel with Stainless Steel Tub is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 165.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from not so good. We bought the short dishwasher after out new tile floor took away the space we had for a full size dishwasher. A little shorter wouldn't be so bad but is also not as deep. Can't put 2 plates side by side and fewer glasses fill the upper rack. This machine is noisier that I expected although it is listed accurately on the spec sheet. The manual I was supplied doesn't explain all the functions. It doesn't secure well to the cabinets (side mount), it's front feet slip in tilting the machine out at the top, spilling dishes. There is a door seal laying loose on the bottom of the dishwasher and I cant find any pl;ace to place it. The documents so far are lacking.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This product should not be offered without a warning This unit is nearly unusable. It's internal size is the smallest I have seen other than apartment sized dishwashers. The functions are just basic with no added features. The upper rack only pulls out about half way rendering the back half unusable. If you have glasses or stem ware other than short tumblers, you will have to wash them on the bottom rack. There is an audible alert at the end of the cycle that cannot be turned off, so don't set start a cycle before going to bed. It will force you to get up and turn off the power. I am so disappointed in this unit and angry that I was stupid enough to buy it in the first place. I am angry that GE offers something like this .

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Simple washer and does its job We bought this washer to replace our 10+ yr old broken one. We wanted one with stainless steel to match our other appliances, and a simple, no frill, and hopefully reliable and cheaper to run. This washer matches our criteria. Compare with our old one, this GE is a little shorter in depth, the basket is not as flexible for the different tableware we use. On the other hand, we found that it is more powerful and the dish is cleaner and drier even when we use the fastest cycle. So far I think it is a good choice. The disappointing part is the registration. For whatever reason, the registration failed and I did use the GE Canada registration page. It didn't accept the model/serial combination, and error on the postal code.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well worth the $200 over the cheapest version In my last condo I had the cheapest dishwasher Home Depot offered. The difference between that DW and this is night and day. I love the design, with the controls hidden in the door top. It doesn't scream appliance. Most important, it doesn't scream (incredibly quiet, you can talk to someone five feet away in a normal voice) and it cleans. I love the cutlery trays - every knife/fork/spoon has its own spot - and comes out spotless - but if you need to clean something larger, like a pizza cutter, just raise the lid. This is a quality appliance, and for something most of us use daily, sometimes more than once daily, well worth the slight premium.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Built like a TANK and QUIET! I bought this for my wife for "12 Xmas. I bought it unseen as a replacement due to a delivery date mixup and I couldn't be happier. It's not a large capacity unit but it's fine fort he two of us and the occasional dinner with friends. Honestly, I've never seen our glasses so CLEAN & SHINY. The top controls are simple & easy to understand and glow a sweet green. I'm lovin' the stainless steel tub, front & handle but most of all the way this thing is built. When I close the door..THUMP..it's closed. Just like a solid sedan. When it's doing it's thing it's QUIET..I mean REAL QUIET. We can barely hear it running from 6 feet away. Measure carefully before you buy one because if you have side cabinets that pull out you have to consider that this model has a rather large curved handle that may block the drawer(s) or base cabinet. All-in-all worth the price..So Far.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from ADA Compliant After we renewed our kitchen floor, we learned the hard way that the regular dishwashers would not fit in. Then we had been told about ADA compliant dishwashers that can be adjustable in height. I found this model online and we purchased it. So far we are so satisfied with it. It does very good job cleaning the dishes without residuals. It is easy to use and quite enough that it does not disturb us when we are sitting nearby. Because of the dimensions, I assume that it has a relatively smaller inside but it is large enough for 3 member family. We are happy with our choice and I recommend this machine to people like us.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Stay away from this tiny tiny overpriced dishwasher I waited 4 weeks for this dishwasher and bought it sight unseen as there was none on the floor. The delivery drivers were still in the driveway, when I opened the dishwasher and the top rack was 1/3 shorter than normal and 6 1/2" of that, were under the counter so it was difficult to use the back of the top rack. I immediately HATED IT!. It is made ADA compliant, Am. for Disabilities, but one with a disability would hate it as well. It is very tiny inside, not made for a family. Made for one person. I was unable to put dishes and pots in at the same time, so it would take two loads instead of one. Plates on bottom rack kept tipping over. There was no 'cancel and drain' feature. Silverware was ALWAYS dripping with water and did not dry. Silverware baskets were tiny as well. Dishwasher stayed on until you actually turned it off so how is that energy efficient. It was overpriced. I would not pay more than $400 at today's prices. The very next day I returned it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best cleaning dishwasher ever I have owned many different brands of dishwashers but this one is the best cleaning dishwasher I have ever owned. Even though the size is smaller than I normally purchase. Our space was limited because of contractor mistake. Even the dirtiest pots and casserole dishes get clean. I very seldom have to rewash anything. I ended paying more for this machine because of the size but it was well worth it.
