Hi DinCA-this is Sue from GE Appliances. Thanks for your purchase. We are happy to help. For best performance, also choose the Wash Temp setting. The water entering the dishwasher should be between 120 and 140 degrees Fahrenheit. Check the water temperature with a candy or meat thermometer. Turn on the hot water faucet nearest the dishwasher, place the thermometer in a glass and let the water run continuously into the glass until the temperature stops rising. Adjust the water heater is necessary. Use a rinse agent. Rinse aids prevent spots on glasses and promote drying by causing water to sheet off dishware and glassware. For further assistance, we encourage you to take advantage of your 1- year warranty and contact GE Consumer Service at 1-800-432-2737. We hope this is helpful. Thanks for reaching out to us! Hello,
This is Joyce from GE. I will be happy to help. One of the great things about dishwashers is that all dishwasher brands since the early 60's are designed to go in 24" space, and are adjustable from 34" to 35" high. (A 2" min. required for corner installations, and it is ok to install them next to a range).
Thanks so much for checking with us. Have a good day!

What is the proper way to start the dishwasher? The light continues to flash no matter what I push. I've had this for less than a week.

A blinking "Start/Reset" light indicates that the dishwasher has been reset and is in the process of turning off. This light will continue to blink for a time period between 75 to 90 seconds depending on the model. You will hear it drain.
Blinking lights or beeping sounds can also indicate a problem with the dishwasher caused by power surges. To correct the problem, try pressing the "Start/Reset" pad to reset the dishwasher. If the problem persists, reset (reboot) the control by turning off the circuit breaker supplying the dishwasher for 30 seconds. Turn the circuit breaker back on and the dishwasher should function normally.

The specifications on the website say the depth with the handle is 24" and without the handle is also 24" . It can't be both, so does anyone know the true depth with handle attached?

Customer Reviews

Rated 3.7 out of 5 by 841 reviewers.
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by I wish I could exchange it for another brand. Cleans worse than our 13 year old dishwasher that we replaced. Plastic silverware baskets can come loose and fall out if you are not careful. These baskets are over designed and difficult to use because the holes in the top covers that are used to stick the utensil handles in are too small. The soap dispenser can be blocked by the silverware in these baskets. The controls are excessively complicated and difficult to learn, and positioned so that is too easy to bump them and change them by accident. The handle on the door sticks out and blocks the opening an adjacent cabinet drawer. The handle should have been recessed. January 14, 2014
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by This product is the worst buy I have made! I do not recommend this dishwasher to anyone. I have yet to find a cycle that does not leave residue or completely clean dishes. It states not to rinse your dishes before putting in the dishwasher but you have to in order to get clean dishes. The dry cycle is a joke. Everything including the inside of the dishwasher is soaking wet after using the drying feature. Last but not least I cannot fit half of what I used to be able to fit into my old dishwasher into this dishwasher. Seriously considering returning it because I cannot live 7-10 years with this dishwasher. My old $300 whirlpool dishwasher cleaned much better and held much more. February 11, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by SO quiet! After a little experiment...I have discovered that the pod Cascade Priemium (also leaves the dishwasher shinning like new) works the best in this dishwasher. Liquid and granuals didn't seem to work/clean as well. Since, I have been greatly pleased. Learning to stack in a different configuration has been much easier with the diagrams provided in the service manual. Pots, plastics, silverware and assorted dishes ALL are sparkling clean (and dry) without pre-rinse. Delivery personnel were punctual, mannerly and answered every question. Replaced a 20yr old GE Profile with this one which I would recommend highly. LOVE, Love, love the tall tub, low door configuration! August 6, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by DO NOT BUY THIS DISHWASHER!!! Bought the dishwasher in April 2013 and has been nothing but a headache. Wouldnt wash or dry the dishes at all no matter what we tried. Drying unit was not included with this dishwasher. Had a repair tech come in about the soapy residue. Basically was told a rinse agent had to be used and nothing else was done.Yeah right that didnt help any at all. Still leaves soap residue all over everything. The drying unit was later put in after complaining. Dishes are nice and dry but still have soap residue. Tried different soap from liquid to pods same thing. Tired of hand washing dishes that should already be clean. Unfortunately at the time of purchase they didnt have a Maytag available. Never buying this brand EVER again. September 4, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by worst dishwasher ever This is the worst dishwasher ever. It can be loaded no more than 2/3 full before it can't clean everything. It's cycles are entirely too long. January 16, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by I'll keep it? This washer is a major improvement over the piece of junk that came with my house but... there is a high pitch noise that sounds like the old CRT TV's used to sound like when they were on. I'm sure I will get used to it with time. My other washer put out about 210 decibels of sound (the same rating as standing 250 feet away for an exploding atom bomb). It could be heard in the next county. It was obnoxious. With this new washer, I can have a normal conversation or watch TV at a low level with no problem. Seems well built. The controls are easy to use. Would I buy it again? Probably not. I would spend $1000 on a super duper washer. My sister has a great, quiet washer and spent about $1000. But for the price I think this one is pretty nice. February 8, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by .Love the features I needed a machine to replace my 15 tr.old Maytag without breaking the bank. I found this one with the features I wanted, within my budget and stylish. This one is very nice but noticeably smaller than my other one. My Maytag cleaned everything off no matter how long it had been there. The new G.E. is not that efficient. My dishes are dry but silverware on the top rack will come out clean if you pre-wash it. things like pizza cutters and wooden spoons must be pre-washed. Glasses and plates look fantastic. Everything on the bottom rack comes out great, It will just take some getting use to on my part. The delivery crew and installation was outstanding and I will buy other appliances from Home Depot because of that crews professionalism and knowledge June 17, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great dishwasher with few Cons In terms of all around quality the dishwasher is a 5 star product. The only issue i really have with it is the cycle lengths. It has a quick cycle but you can't turn on any of the features such as sanitize or heated dry with it so we end up using one of the standard cycles which takes 4 hours for the adaptive wash+sanitize+dry. We had a relatively new Whirlpool in our old house (under 5 years) that was much quicker and still offered most of those features. Pros: + Construction + loading flexibility + quiet + cleans great + looks + tine layout is very basic (Pro since you have a lot of flexibility) Cons - Cycle times - tine lay out is very basic (Con because they don't fold over or offer any special slots that some of the higher end dishwashers do) February 4, 2014
