Product Overview

The GE Silicone I Tub & Tile 100% silicone is a permanently waterproof caulk for use in kitchens and baths as well as in plumbing applications. GE Silicone I Tub & Tile provides mold resistant product protection and never cracks, shrinks breaks down or washes away. GE Silicone I Tub & Tile caulk is permanently waterproof and it will not shrink, crack, or crumble over time like acrylic. Silicone chemically cures while acrylic is water-based (it simply dries as water escapes). Some acrylics can shrink up to 25 percent, leaving gaps and cracks for water to seep through. Those leaks can lead to water damage and mold growth. 100% Silicone sealant is widely considered to be the best caulk for recaulking and sealing around bathtubs, showers and faucets as well as other areas in your home that will be exposed to water.

Customer Questions & Answers

will ge silicone 1 discolor mirror when applied to the back?

Asked by: Anonymous
Hi Paddy, this is Tom from the How-To Community, http://community.homedepot.com Although the GE Silicone one sealant may or may not discolor the backing on a mirror, it is not a recommended application for the product. An adhesive specifically designed for the mounting of mirrors should be used such as the one seen at the following link: http://www.homedepot.com/h_d1/N-5yc1v/R-202300819/h_d2/ProductDisplay?storeId=10051&keyword=mirror+mastic&jspStoreDir=hdus&Nu=P_PARENT_ID&selectedCatgry=SEARCH+ALL&navFlow=3&catalogId=10053&langId=-1&ddkey=Search

Can you clean this up with odorless paint thinner/white spirits, or is it not recommended and will degrade the sealing capabilities of the caulk?

I got a question from an old-time European guy about this. Didn't know what to say, and it's a good question.
