CUSTOMER REVIEWS

Rated 3.4 out of 5 by 23 reviewers.
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great little inexpensive filter I've used one of these for over 10 years and if your main objective is to remove chlorine and sediment from a city water supply it works great. The price is right and the FXUTC filter is rated for 6 months or 3,000 gallons of water which is a lot longer than most filters. If you need to filter other metals like mercury there are filters that will fit and do the job. February 27, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent product, choice of filter media. I purchased this product a month ago even after reading some of the reviews. I too, had a little trouble figuring out how to plumb the filter in. If you get two (2) A-129 brass elbows, available at Home Depot, which are 3/8" by 3/8 MIP it is a very simple installation. You thread in the 3/8" elbows into the filter, disconnect the water line from the shut off and screw it into the MIP connection on the outlet side of the filter, ( you may want to replace this line while you are at it, so it is new too) connect a new water faucet supply line from the inlet side of the filter to the shutoff valve and presto you are in business. About $20 for the two connectors and a new steel braid supply line. The thing that is really neat about this filter, is that you can choose from 3 or 4 different types of filters to filter what it is you are trying to filter out, from chlorine to micro bugs, you pick the one you want. Course the more you filter out the higher the cost of the filter. Flow rate is less than without the filter, but we are using one of the more complete filters and we can still fill a half gallon jug in just over a minute. Another benefit was that we were able to keep the Moen faucet we had purchased a year ago that has the sprayer that just pulls out of the faucet stem, which meant that one of those filters you screw into the faucet would not have worked for us. It is also out of sight under the sink, no bulky filter hanging in your way at the sink. Great product period. June 18, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by pretty good water filter pretty good water filter. I was surprised when I bought it, the filter element wasn't included. Went and bought a filter element. Then I had to order a special wrench to get the filter open. I had to buy the connectors for it separately, that was a pain. Other than that I couldn't be happier. January 27, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good solid buy Easy to intall and liked that it does not come with a filter element. I was able to select an element needed for different filter requirements. I replace the old plastic lines with stainless steel line looks great an should never leak. January 20, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Filter Unit - Huge $$$ Savings on Filters Pros: - Saves tons of $$$ on filter costs. FXUTC filter is only $13, and you can buy other filters depending on your filtering needs. The unit pays for itself in 2 filter changes with the money saved. - I've used this filter for over 10 years in 4 different residences, and it never fails or leaks, so long as you know what you're doing. See cons. - Filter lasts a long time. - No fittings, tubing, connections, or faucet provided. Yes, this is a "pro" because why include things that you may not need/want? Buy 3/8" to __ compression fittings, tubing, etc. and hook it up yourself. You could also buy plastic "quick connect" fittings, but those will eventually leak. Brass compression fittings are a couple bucks more each. Do it right the first time and avoid potential water damage. Cons: - You need to torque it quite a bit to avoid leaks. Oil filter wrench makes it easy though. - Use vegetable oil on the O-ring help to avoid leaks. January 25, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Does the job for a great price We bought this because we don't like the taste of city water and hated having a "brita" type product in the fridge for filter drinking water. This filter was easy to install and has lasted a long time. The one in our kitchen works great and the filter has lasted over a year without us noticing a change in water taste. The filter does slow down the water pressure a bit and this gets worse the longer you wait to change the filter, but it hasn't motivated us to replace the filter until just now. Will update post if have change of opinion after filter replacement this weekend. August 12, 2012
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not good if you want to use with existing faucet very weak flow Went in easy . I did not want a second faucet. If you want to have only one faucet pick another filter even though this one claims to have a 2 gpm flow. It may work good with a dedicated faucet December 26, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Works Fine, prone to leak There is not a grove for the O-ring to sit in so it very difficult to get a seal. Needed to file a grove in the sump to have it seal. Seems to filter the water as described. October 1, 2012
