Previously had Mayfair unit for almost 30 years with no problems until recently, when dryer began making loud rumbling sounds...time for replacement. This GE is actually less wide than previous Mayfair, and greater capacity, so that's a plus. Washer during the wash cycle is very quiet, but surprisingly noisy during other various rinse cycles, with all kinds of clicks and even loud noises, like it's changing gears or something. Dryer quiet, though takes longer to dry than previous old unit. Down side of washer is that it locks lid during rinse cycles, so you can't adjust clothes inside in case it's lopisided, making noise worse during spin. And also, you don't know where it's at in the cycle since knob doesn't turn.

Rated 4 out of 5Â by bearly Getting used to my washer and dryer.
First let me tell you I have a built in area in my kitchen for washer and dryer. I was dictated by that size.
I looked and looked for this set...read reviews etc. This had the better reviews. It was the bigger size of most sets I read about. I had a front loading washer prior to this set....and getting used to this was a little daunting for me. However: that being said.....it washes well, cleans well, even though it makes some odd noises. The washer holds more than I thought it would.....and the dryer ( I purchased the gas) does a great job. It is faster drying than my other dryer.
I would recommend this to people who have a confined area. Many of the others are smaller cubic ft., this is not huge, but will hold quite a bit. I would have given excellent, other than the odd noises the washer makes.

I bought this unit a few months ago and have been very happy with it. It washes things well and dries them very quickly. In addition, it's quieter than the front-loading Frigidaire washer/dryer that I had before. Also, the capacity is better than I expected. I can fit six standard sized bath towels and two hand towels in the washer. One word of caution: if you need your unit to be side vented (as opposed to rear vented) make sure you check with Home Depot before ordering. Some deliverymen will not install a side vent, since it requires that they knock out a side panel cutout on the machine. My local Home Depot offered to send a guy over to hook up the side vent if the deliverymen refused to do it.

The stackable washer/dryer is great. I read other reviews and the dryer drys my clothes when I am washing my clothes. It does a great job. It's quite and offers a lot of features. My husband and I are very happy with our ourchase

I LOVE MY NEW UNIT. IT IS MUCH LARGER THAN I ANTICIPATED. I CAN NOW WASH AN ACTUAL LARGE LOAD.AND THE GAS DRYER IS GREAT. MY CLOTHES COME OUT WITH LESS WRINKLES, AND DRIES USING LESS TIME.
